It has happened three times already. Someone yelling out racist slurs, other people that don't want to die when they are actually been shot once and sliced three times...
But I can't do anything about it. There is no text bubble, there is no name I can rely upon. I just have to let toxicity and cheating go.
Simply put, streamer mode does not work as intended.
People can still get into your server if you don't disable text chat. So I have to close myself off for friendly behaviour altogether. I love about this game that you don't know if someone is a friend or foe and that if someone talks to you and ask for help, there is a choice to decide that. But the only option with the streamer mode, as it's designed now, is to shut yourself off and talk to nobody and just go full killing mode it seems.
Furthermore, I also encountered a couple of people that saw me in the game and searched for my name to watch what I was doing. Some of them even replied in-game to my interaction with my stream audience, so it was pretty obvious they found a way into the same server and knew I was streaming. Also when they encountered me, knowing I had the streamer mode on, they were even more anonymized. For instance: when I turned the streamer mode off to go back to them to check for their names, they didn't dare to throw racist slurs at me anymore. You ask to show evidence if people are being toxic and aim to have a zero tolerance stance towards it, but I have no proof to give you... I can only show clips without text bubbles or names.
So I wanted to make a suggestion:
Random pirate names, so streamers can see who talks by their speech bubble and with a name to be able to report someone. That name can be traced back to the original name so everyone can help make Sea of Thieves a better and friendlier place.
The name of the streamer will also be random, so they will not be able to find out too quickly who they are. Yes, I am aware that recent players will still be a thing, but it's at least not too obvious in the blink of an eye that someone is a streamer.
It's just really frustrating that you have the evidence of toxic behaviour and cheating on screen, ready to be clipped and report. But because you don't have any name, there is no use in reporting it. And if they can already be so toxic toward a streamer; knowing their actions are recorded and watched by others, who knows how they react to others in the game...
