No sound on ladders/unable to hear boarders

    So, being a mostly solo player, I've acquired the skills required to hear when other pirates are boarding my ship. Since the last update, however, I have been unable to hear other crews climbing my ladder and it's getting really frustrating. I've asked a couple of streamers that I watch on a regular basis, and some of them have reported the same issue.

    I concur! I've been boarded several times and not heard them!

    This has also happened on a galleon. All four of us weren't able to hear the other crew climbing the ladder...

    There is a way to climb the ladders without making a loud splash sound.. it still makes a sound but not as loud.. It depends on how they grab it! I won't go into the details incase any sneaky pirates are reading this 🤫 but it is not a bug.

    @x5h3ar3rx I have noticed this myself -- several times I grab the ladder to get back on my own ship and barely make a sound! Still unsure how to repeat, despite some efforts...

    Are we sure it isn't a bug? I have noticed the same issue and it seems to be every single time we are boarded lately. My crew and I must be the only pirates who don't know about this.

    @archangel-timmy I'm very sure it's not a bug as it still makes the splash sound but just not as loud.. and to do it takes good timing

    Can we just establish that the 'splash' sound is made by your character entering/moving through the water. nothing to do with the action of climbing the ladder. A ladder that makes a 'splash' sound is just wrong.

    @tyverus89 It's not the ladder making the splash sound, it is the sound of you pulling yourself out of the water and onto the ladder.

    exactly, therefore has no relevance to this bug as my issue is that I am unable to hear players climbing the ladder.

    I apologize, I didnt realize you could hear this to begin with and assumed you meant the splash.

    I have my game volume at 50% with the SFX maxed to be able to hear these noises and still never noticed the actual ladder noise and cannot hear any sort of splash.

    No worries man. Yea, I have no issues with hearing boarders swimming to me, however, they can sometimes be very stealthy and I don't notice them. This is why I rely on the ladder sounds also.

    another reason why skulls should be muted while on a boat. helps mask the sounds of those who might be boarding.
