Alot of the community complained that the Kraken was too easy before. I get that and kind of agree. I dont want it to just hand me loot with it's endless limbs, but I also do not want a kraken attack to be a guaranteed sinking of my crew's ship. Since the last difficulty tweaking of the kraken I have been unable to defeat one. the fight needs to be brought down a bit to a middle ground between it's current difficulty and yet still above the easier form it took before.
The Kraken is a bit TOO hard since the newest tweaks.
@DeadActionJones You can look for some tutorials here on the forums or at google, have you tried it?
And I also showed you a simple solution, let me quote it for you:

Or you can run away from him putting your sails to the wind.
@targasbr not helpful merely a backhanded comment towards another community member who is offering feedback to the developers. you'll be ok. I promise.
@deadactionjones
Ahoy there, if you check out the Gameplay Tips and Guides section there are a few videos, or text guides on how to defeat the Kraken which you might find helpful:

@deadactionjones He's only hard if he wraps your haul or if your crew is not doing the right things. Here are some tips :)
@deadactionjones Come here to ask to reduce the difficulty of an enemy that clearly should be difficult is not very interesting feedback at all. All I wanted was to show that Kraken is meant to be that way and there are ways to beat it or avoid it. Before criticizing the response of other people you should review your post because it was as useful as any comment with "git gud". If you want more elaborate feedback, you should make a more elaborate post with the pros and cons of reducing Kraken's difficulty.
I know how to fight the kraken. I appreciate the (non condescending) links. I have been playing since the alpha. I know the fight. but when the kraken wraps the hole on your brig or your galleon and you cant get underneath to get to the holes before your ship fills up that is basically all she wrote. also being pulled into a suckers mouth from the bottom floor of a galleon seems like something that shouldnt be happening. either way i think the kraken is at a 9 and needs to be at about a 6. this is a feedback forum so I am offering my feedback.

Yes, that needs to be fixed.
@deadactionjones you usually play on a brig or galleon? Great, that helps explain it for me (Kraken was waaaaaaay nerfed for sloopers like me). So when you say you know how to fight it, you mean that you are aware of why the suck attack sometimes gets you through the ship (only occurs when it has already had a substantial moment to "lock on" to you), and you are aware that when it wraps the hole of your ship you need to attack the short tentacle that will be just to one side or the other (an edit in one of the updates, so you might have missed it)?
Not trying to be condescending, but just making sure that you didn't take a break from playing and miss a new mechanic or anything. If you already know all of this and still consider it too difficult, I don't really know what to say -- I haven't faced it in a galleon, but I haven't found it overly difficult in a sloop or a brig.
@deadactionjones We appreciate your feedback, but the Kraken is meant do be hard. It's the hardest enemy on the game.

On the brig, you need a player to be always down there to fix the holes. On the galleon too, but you can jump on water and climb the ladder.
also being pulled into a suckers mouth from the bottom floor of a galleon seems like something that shouldnt be happening.
Avoid to ble close to the ship walls when he try to suck you.

With this tips you will ask for a harder kraken.
I see this topic much more as combat inexperience than kraken difficulty.
As other members have said, it's all a matter of keeping someone in the fix, jumping into the water to go around and pick up the ladder, protect yourself or shoot at the tentacle that is sucking, point candles at full wind and escape. In my view the kraken is very easy to combat, compared to the megalodon, the megalodon opens much more holes in each attack than the kraken when it should be the other way around.
I think both kraken and megalogon should have increased difficulties so that it stays in a point that respects their history and strength.
@jet-fire-diego I agree.. Kraken and Meg should definitely be more difficult.. used to be exciting, now feels like it has become a chore
Always aim and shoot for the closest tentacle in most circumstances (but never the wrapped one).
It's rising out of the water? Shoot it!
It's about to strike? Shoot it!
It's about to eat you? Shoot it!
It's wrapped around your boat? Shoot the other one closest to the boat!
Got holes? Repair them!
Want to run away? Drop those sails! It's literally that easy.
@deadactionjones
Karen is easily defeatable if you have a basic understanding of her three mechanics:- Wrap - shoot the closest tentacle, it will pop back up on the other side, do this ~3-4 times and she will let go
- Slap - real simple, just repair
- Suck - Focus this tentacle down before you or you crew gets taken
Each tentacle takes 4 cannonballs
Sloop-4 tentacles Brig-6 tentacles Galleon-8 tentacles@deadactionjones ????
The original Kraken was crazy easy. You could literally fight it off with swords and pistols. No exaggeration. Swords and Pistols. It also dropped NO loot.
They then finally changed it and made it harder. Except the only change was that you had to actually pay attention this time to what you were doing. Everyone complains about it covering the stairway but if you died to that then you just needed to learn more and get better at the game.
Before they changed it to make it easier, I almost solo'd it in a brig BY MYSELF. I even let it wrap the stairs and still got it off before sinking. If I can almost kill it solo in a brig you should have no problems with a extra person.
You make think everyone is being condencending to you or talking down to you, but you came here and complained and said something was too hard. We not only gave you advice on HOW TO defeat it, we also linked videos.
You still fail to accept the advice given suggesting we are telling you to "git gud" when it is obvious you do indeed need to learn how to play the game better.
Solo sloop the kraken dies in less than 2mins. Even if it wraps the stair case, getting the Kraken to unwrap is easy and quick. If you get trapped under instead, then what you can do is either jump out of the boat and climb the ladder, or grab the ladder through the window.
The brig is the same thing, I have killed the Kraken every single time while flying a brig with at least 1 other crew mate. NEVER DIED ONCE in a brig or Galleon while with a crew. I've even friended people on the forums and helped them complete their achievements.
Instead of running around and panicking, sword swiping and shooting your pistols. Take a moment, be aware of your surroundings and what is going on. Aim your cannon shots and don't get sucked up. Have someone below deck at ALL times repairing.
Learn, adapt, get better at the game.
I found the kraken harder, since defeating it a couple times I sort of adapted? I no longer find it as difficult, it helps when you know their attacks and what to look for. When with a crew, we ensure we are always stocked up on supplies, aim for closer tentacles, also I tend to stay just by the stairs to shoot with a sniper, ready for any attacks I can rush and fix the holes. I dreaded whenever they spawned, but now I enjoy the little challenge. :D
honestly, without getting into it very much, i think the kraken is probably one of the poorest ideas for an npc "boss" type encounter that Ive seen in quite a long time. its a perfect example of what happens when the devs give into the whims or suggestions from players without very much thought or QA testing put into it.
Since the last alterations of the Kraken, I've managed to get my ship out of its grasp twice (I was more interested in escaping than fighting it). My main issue with the Kraken is the pulling you into its mouth.
First, if you can get below deck, it shouldn't be able to suck you through the walls. But the big issue I've had recently is when I am sucked into its mouth, I can't hit the jaws. They don't close up enough for my weapons to actually hit it. This doesn't happen every time, so I'm starting to think that its a bug or glitch of some type. I'll be stuck in the air, the jaws open and close but don't close enough for my character to be able to strike it. It's like my character is too big and gets stuck in the tentacle's throat and it's choking. Anyone else having this issue?
