Anyone else getting stuck in black screen?

    Your boat is filled with tons of loot. You’re engaging in combat with another ship. It’s exciting, it’s an apex of SoT. You die, and you’re stuck in black screen. 20 seconds go by, 40 seconds go by, you’re thinking “I really need to spawn back onto my ship. Come on!”, 2 minutes of black screen, 3 minutes of black screen. “Surely my boat has sunk by now.”

    This has happened to everyone I’ve played with since the game was released. Coming up on the one year anniversary of this game and this is still an issue. I bet it’s still an issue a year from now.

    It seems to happen most often when engaged in PvP. It’s already an issue when one person spawns back in quicker than another, and black screen loading times have never been consistent. It is especially disheartening when it freezes on black screen. It is also concerning that this is an issue with arena mode right around the corner.

    I wonder if this occurs more often on xbox or pc. Do you experience this problem, and if so, are you playing on xbox or pc?

    I have been out of the game for a bit, Just came back and it's happening to me. When I die or Mermaid back there is no spinning Helm. does anyone know what to do.... I am writing this in middle of an solo Athena.. i need friends....

    Yes. If you're stuck at a black screen and you see a spinning wheel, you'll usually spawn back in. If the spinning wheel isn't there, you have to restart the game/session.

    Aye really hope the load times are resolved with the Arena or mega update.
    Was hoping it was going to be resolved when they had use re download the game. Solid state drive is not and should not be the solution.

    @br0crastinat0r Yes. My hope and assumption is that arena mode is in a smaller, much more manageable server than the base SoT “adventure mode” server.

    I’ve spent my fair share of time on the forums and people like @PersonalC0ffee would thoroughly explain why the game experiences lag, connection issues, bugs etc. and a lot of it seems to be the sheer amount of, for lack of a better word, “stuff” that the server is handling at any given time. Boat A is at ashen reaches getting shot by volcanoes while fighting skeleton captains, Boat B just spawned in at galleons grave purchasing voyages and grabbing supplies and one of them is in the legendary hideout, Boat C is engaged in PvP with Boat D under a skull cloud at keel haul fort, Boat E has two guys on the ferry of the damned while the other two players are fighting a skeleton ship and megalodon and they happen to be near an island rendering animals, and Boat F is sailing out of bounds while playing all 3 instruments simultaneously.

    Aye it happens more often than not. I feel like an insta spawn without blackscreen only occurs when there is NOTHING going on. PvE or PvP wise. If there is 1 thing like a meg,ship, rain, hole or even a latern with a diffrent color on it prompts the black loading screen.

    Best parts are always the ones u hear your ship sink and than after 1 minute of black screen to be finally be able to play only to see your ship sink. Which u could have saved if there was no black screen. These are the best.
