XBOX X 1080P+HDR? PC HDR?

  • Is it not possible to play this game at 1080p WITH HDR on an Xbox X?

And please, i'm sure it's been said a million times, how about HDR on PC?

And a 60fps + HDR performance mode on Xbox X?

Not so much HDR , but I think a 1080p 60 FPS option for the one X should be achievable and implemented.

  • Out of curiosity, I booted up the game on my old Xbox One... wow, that is rough!

I mean, it's playable, but it's almost headache-inducing running the game at 30fps (and frequently below) constantly. Not likely to do better on standard Xbox Ones but I'm fairly sure they should be able to introduce a performance mode on Xbox One X at some point. I'm sure a lot of players on X would be willing to sacrifice some fidelity and graphics for better framerates.

Also, not a huge fan of the gamma setting on Xbox One, it makes the image look really crushed and dark (I realise that has always been that way as it's done at system level on the console to make colours "pop").

  • My biggest issue with SoT on Xbox isn't even the controller part, it's the awful 30 FPS.

If they raise that to 60 it would solve so many issues and even out the playing field, atleast for the Xbox X version.

  • Forcing your Xbox X into 1080p in the system menu, disabling 4k resolution, will let you play Sea of Thieves in 1080p at a pretty good and smooth framerate. But doing so in the system menu disables HDR.

When HDR is disabled, the game's lighting and gamma does seem crushed.

I play this game with a friend in the same room - one on my PC at 1440p 80ish FPS, and the other on Xbox X 4k HDR. The Xbox X has such a bad framerate that it's almost embarassing to show friends.

However, comparing the PC non-HDR version to the 4k HDR Xbox X version, the lighting in HDR is astounding! It's like completely different light physics are being implemented. It's just a tragedy that it has such a poor framerate. A 1440p HDR 60fps mode on Xbox X seems like it'd be just in reach of the hardware performance, so why not?

I dont think it's the Xbox's foult, even the old Xbox One can run Gears of War online in 60 FPS.

It's just how they set it up, im sure it would easily handle 60
