i think it would be pretty awesome to be able to have 4 people on one sloop. I mean why not? being able to have 4 people on one sloop could be alot of fun, and it would also make others question weather they should really attack all sloops on sight. rn people see a sloop and thing easy pickings, but if we had the ability to have 4 crew members on a sloop it wouldn't be that way.
why can sloops only have 2 people on them max?
No one will use the galleon anymore if that happens. Having a small ship (which needs less managment) with a big crew is a big advantage. If a single person can sail a sloop by himself, having 3 more people will be an overkill.
You have enough people to do everything on the ship+big boarding party. It will only work if they balance all the ships according to crew size.
In addition to what @BlindNev and others have already said, the additional 2 players would also likely be bored out of their minds most of the time while sailing, just standing around playing music. The reason we have the crew limitations we do for each ship size is for both the balance between fun and being a challenge, as well as for balancing the game itself, mechanically-speaking.
The brigantine was introduced specifically to address this issue. A sloop with a crew larger than two is overpowered. As it stands, a two-person sloop is a force to be reckoned with. If you really want to experience a four-person sloop crew, however, you can always form an alliance and give it a try. I've done it and it just feels overcrowded.
I hope one day they add a larger warship, like a man-of-war. Such a ship could have a crew of up to five with ten guns. It would naturally handle like a lazy cow, but it would be a floating fortress on the seas. What a sight that would be!
@d4m0r3d when we play duo on a sloop one of us is always bored...the sloop is a solo ship only
When we are two, we use the brigI am of the opinion that all the current ships could have bigger crew size - which would create room for more ships. But 4-man Sloop might be slightly over the line, because that would mean there would have to be a new 3-man ship, 2-man ship and maybe even 1-man ship. Three smaller ships than the Sloop wouldn't be easy to design and balance.
@d4m0r3d dijo en why can sloops only have 2 people on them max?:

Not balanced.
@genuine-heather I've never considered making an alliance to try a 4-man sloop. I think that's a wonderful suggestion for anyone who wants to see it for themselves!
As for a larger ship, like a man o' war, I'm 1 of the few who is actually against the idea. I just don't see how they could maintain balance.
@d4m0r3d You don't need more than 2 players on a sloop. It's easy to play with a sloop with 2 guys. And 2 player sloops also have advantage against 4 player galleons.
@d4m0r3d disse em why can sloops only have 2 people on them max?:
@targasbr whats the advantage?
More speed against the wind, everything is closer and faster to move (sails, anchor, wheel), more difficult to hit due to its size, much easier to sail, makes better curves, you can sail alone without any difficulty, among other advantages.
The size of the sloop looks like a 4 man ship to me Its just odd to only have 2 people on it. And btw on galleons how often do you really have to do anything, a galleon can be easily opperated by a 2 man crew if they know what they are doing. Sure theres something to do if you want to do something but i dont find moving sails fun anyways so idk what your point is that you wouldnt be able to do anthing on a sloop. The sloop has space for two cannon opperators, a helmsman and a cool. But yea i guess why tf would you pick a galleon cause that poo is boring.
@targasbr yea true i guess im just wishing the ships werent so empty. To me a galleon feels like a ship that should have more than 10 people on it and a sloop feels more like a 4 man ship to me

What matters is not what we think, but rather whether the game will be balanced and fair to all.
@d4m0r3d A while back Rare stated that they wanted to remove crew size limits. Now Rare probably never tried sailing with 4 people on a sloop so they probably got some testing done and as you might be able to imagine a 4 man crew on a sloop will completely destroy a crew on a galleon, you've suddenly got 3 boarders and 1 guy manning cannons and bombarding the galleon while the galleon crew needs to fend off boarders manage a ship and try to shoot somthing that's already hard to hit.
It moves like a butterfly and stings like a bee.
@targasbr yea me i wasnt thinking about people running away from fights, i was just thinking about people in pvp trying to foght eachother, the way i saw it was galleon would still have advantage in a head to head fight. But when you throw in the idea of people running away then yea they would be able to run away like its nothing

This is why we use strategy. If you use it, you'll see the galleon are the worst ship, even with more players.
@hynieth a galleon with 4 cannons would be able to peg the poo out of a sloop before its able to get anyone to board them, then when people board them it becomes a 3v4 if the galleon wins the sloop is 100% pood, if the sloop wins the galleon can respawn before they sink and will have a second chance. Ofcoarse there are alot of noobs and casuals though so idk how these fights would go based on that
Because it doesn't make sense. They designed the different ship sizes to be balanced for specific numbers of crewmates. If you want to play with 4 people you pick a galleon.
I don't see easy pickings when I see a sloop. A smart duo on a sloop can be dangerous to anyone. I can't tell you how many times I've taken a fort from a galleon on a sloop. Its about playing smart, mostly long distance plays, and using the nimble features of the sloop to your advantage.
@d4m0r3d Because it's designed to be a 2 man ship. Having more would make it OP. The ship crew size limits exist for a reason.
@genuine-heather the idea of doing it with an alliance gives an impression and still would not be as powerful as an actual crew. I have been a single life mercenary from time to time and it can be quite fun, but it has its limitations.
Being on the same crew has added benefits like:
- No friendly fire, making fighting in a small space more advantageous.
- No body collisions, making it easier to walk around on the ship
- Able to use the mermaid, therefore easier to rotate around and optimize boarding strategies.
- Spawning, if in an alliance the non crew members dies they don't come back. They are single life mercenaries.
Limits tend to be in place for balance. They can be tweaked, but big impacts as the ability to one additional action (two extra hands) is a big difference in a game and cannot be changed without major adaptation for balance purposes.
@chronodusk aye im a solo slooper, and the amount of galleons i have sunk is endless, and the amount of forts i have stolen from brigs and galleons, oh geez. but there are alot of bad players, noobs and casuals. if everyone was as good as i it would be a dif story, but this game is mostly casuals. i rarely run into a crew who is actually good. even if they are pirate legend i rarely face crews who are good in a fight.
@chronodusk ok so tell me this, in a fight between a 2 man sloop and a galleon. both teams are the same skill level, who do you think would win? the only reason things are ballanced for me is because i actually know what im doing and all the galleons i run into are noobs or casuals who dont know how to play.

Just don't let them board or broadside you. 😅

Probably the Sloop, there is much more advantage in small boat.
@d4m0r3d Maybe an option to abandon your crew and join another. That way a sloop could join onto a galleon without having to be the repair guys.
