Catching a mermaid back to boat timer

  • Hello, I was battling a ghost ship earlier today and it threw me off the boat. My ship was moving so I could not swim back to it I had to swim in the other direction. I swam in the opposite direction of the boat and it took over 60 seconds of swimming the other direction (while the ship was still moving away). Luckily I made it back to the ship in time to bail, but could not finish the ghost ship because of it. Maybe change the amount of time it takes to get a mermaid, as this game is fun for many solo players but it can be very costly swimming aimlessly trying to find a mermaid while your ship is being sunk (literally nothing you can do). I have seen this in many instances outside of just me where they will literally swim for over 2 minutes without finding a mermaid. I know there are currently many glitches in the game and things that need to be changed, but I think this is a very important one. Nobody wants to just swim in the water helplessly watching their boat sink.

Being knocked off, jumping off to board or in any way leaving your ship is a risk as a pirate and even more so as a solo.

Mermaids require a specific distance to spawn, so the speed at which your ship is going, whether it is turning and such is in effect as well. It isn't a time based event, so not exactly sure how you would want it to be solved.

It is preventable though, the reason for being knocked off is because you had bad positioning. Ensure you hit a railing, mast or don't be near the cannonball. Especially now being sniped is no longer an issue it became way easier. Learn, improve and become a better pirate.
