The un-stuck button

  • Dear Rare,

    If possible i would like to see an unstuck button added to the menu. For example if u are not able to move for 5 minutes than that you are allowed to press unstuck button and be teleported to your ship. Or maybe like 2 meters away.

    From time to time it happens u get stuck. Be it between rocks or shooting from the canon onto a position which u get stuck. NOT all places where u can get stuck have the oppertunity to spawn powder keg skellies. They kill u and u are unstuck.

    Even in a crew game u could DC and rejoin.
    But for solo players i guess this would be bliss.
    If im solo and tend to get stuck and no way to unstuck... All progress, loot etc is gone.

    Not saying unstuck needs to be 5 min after not moving and teleporing to ship. But something just to get u unstuck would be nice :)

    Doesn't happen to me as much as it used to thankfully.
    It's strange to be caught in a situation were you are wishing for a gunpower skelly or skelly in general to spawn.... to end it all.
    As you mention it depends on where you are stuck.

    I personally would like an option... maybe termed... "Visit the ferry of the Damned".
    It would need to be carefully implemented as it could be a mechanic subject to abuse, if you find yourself in a standard but tricky situation "a visit to the ferry" might actually benefit you.

  • It does seem to depend where you are stuck. Thankfully with all the other issues getting stuck has not been one to deal with.

    An unstuck issue could be abused though, especially if it returned you to your ship. Going to the ferry may be a comprised for it. Also a time limit on how often it could be utilized.

    I've only gotten completely stuck once, every other time I've managed to get myself out. Fortunately, I was on a galleon that day and someone was able to drop a keg on me.
    It was at an outpost, I was hopping around and got caught on a tree somehow.

    Lol! Powder kegs can come in very handy for many things. Like a Swiss Army knife and a can of whoop in one very useful item. It is red too like my very first knife long ago.

  • I would rather have an "unstuck button" than a forced teleport option. Nothing is more frustrating being on an island not near the boat to be forced back to the boat.

  • I've had this happen many times and thankfully I was always with a crew of 3 or more, meaning if I didn't eventually die by skelly I could always get brigged; it sucks but if everyone else knows what they're doing it's really just an unfortunate inconvenience. They seriously need to have an option to get yourself out of a stuck situation for solo's and duo's but they would need to implement a solution that cannot be turned into an exploit somehow. Teleporting to your boat certainly would be taken advantage of but setting a timer for it may balance that out some.

    For duo sloops, at the very least, you should be able to vote yourself into the brig if your teammate also votes you in. That's an easy one to put in game I'd think, but I'd certainly have an new level of hate if I was trying to solo an athena and on the last island(s) get stuck with no way to get out. I suppose you could open the crew and pray that whomever comes in figures out what's going on, can help, and doesn't turn out a troll & just toss all of your loot & bounce.

  • Im not saying it needs to teleport to ship. Might just put u 2 meters aside so u can continue.

    My main thing is just having this option.
    How it should work or what limits there should be is something for Rare to figure out :P

    In all cases this kinda button should work so it only helps you get unstuck. It should not give u any kind of advantage, be it by use or abuse, in terms of gameplay tactics.

  • @weakdexx would have needed one, lately. Finished athena, won against two attacking skelly ships on the way, wanted to fill up with planks and ... stuck in a palm tree. sick.

  • @weakdexx I think the issue is that how does the game decide where to put you? Sure it can move you 2 meters aside, but which direction does it pick? It now has to check 2 meters around you (and possibly up or down, and consider whether its in water, a solid object at that spot, etc..) for a valid place that won't get you stuck again. I think it would be easier to just hook into the pre-existing teleport functionality.

    There are situations where having the ability to un-stick yourself would be extremely helpful but if its able to be enacted manually, it needs to be checked to prevent abuse. Being able to teleport back to your ship whenever you want could be exploitable in some situations. I think the easiest way to do this would be have you able to kill yourself and go through the ferry route. You get unstuck whenever you want, but there is a time penalty to prevent people from using it in situations where it would be advantageous.

    I hope Rare adds something like this, as due to the nature of the game getting stuck can wipe out all your progress if you're solo. Even after something like this was added, positions you can get stuck in should be reported.

    Thing is, i dont really care which route it takes.
    All im up for is the fact to have an option to be unstuck.

    I reckon solo'ers who get stuck at end of athena for example... well that is just a big b*mmer.

    It would be a QoL improvement. let rare figure out which route it be. wether: ferry, teleport to ship, teleport 2 meters.
