DLC code prices..

  • Has anyone else saw the going prices for the Obsidian Eye of Reach as well as the Midnight blunderbuss on ebay? Ridiculously high with the blunderbuss just selling over $300. Heres hoping Rare will eventually release these 2 weapon skins to complete the Black Dog set instead of ebay shopping lol!

  • You can by a new Xbox for 300$.
I pity anybody who pays that price for a skin.

  • Well, at this point they're nearing half a year- year old codes given out. Obviously even more of a rarity at this point.

Personally I hope they never get re-released. Probably start hearing people lose it over the banana sails after that

  • @tre-oni I can understand not releasing the golden banana sails due to the contest, but seems fine to release event cosmetics after a time. The rarity is there obviously, but the comment was made near the first mixpot the Ebon Flintlock that all cosmetics would become available around 60 days after their initial release. Not salty, just wanting to complete the set. Anyways see ya on the seas!

  • @mad-hatt3r-10-6

Yip.. Pirates in real life too... not just on the Seas!!!
Just gotta be careful out there, personally I don't fancy lining "ebay sellers" pockets.
But I can't knock their entrepreneurship if people part with their doubloons. ( But... agreed it does leave a bad taste in the mouth )
There are people for everything... I guess:)

  • Selling for $300? Or LISTED for $300? Very different things. :D

I bought the limited edition controller, and part of me sorta wishes I hadn't redeemed the code for the Ferryman stuff, because I'm sure someone would offer me my own private island for it now.

I have 3 personally lol. Preordered one from my work to use, one from official Microsoft to keep boxed, and the third was a gift someone got me without realizing I had two haha.

Not something I'll ever sell personally. May give the one from the third one away some day, idk.

  • @tre-oni
You get to play at work?

Yeah getting the controller was a big cost up front, doubling the price of the game, but worth it since I love playing on the controller for other games too, way better than the old logitech I had for my pc.
The ferryman cosmetics secured the decision.

I am not sure the resolution to this:

    • Not re-releasing keeps the people who did buy in at the time happy.
    • Re-releasing makes the people who missed out happy.

You can see similar situations in other games as well.
Dota 2 just released a specter set formerly "one time only" and people aren't happy.

I just hope when Rare said exclusive, they keep it that way.
If they want to re-release later, they can clearly indicate such by labeling it differently.

There is some confusion on their term "time limited exclusive" if it means you can only earn it in a limited time or if for a limited time it is exclusive to those who earned it, and then later it won't be exclusive.

Rare has said in the past it means the former, but with discussions about re-releasing in streams it's almost like later as well.

  • I could be wrong and don’t have a source but as far as I was aware all the Black Sea dog (Feel like I got the sets name wrong) items would be coming to the game eventually anyway.

I just thought it wasn’t going to be anytime soon. They will probably add them in there MXT shop.

Seems like the most logical thing they would do.

  • I’ve heard people say this about all the exclusive items. That’s been a long time ago that they said it too.

  • @shakes-mcqueen Midnight Blunderbuss sold for $321. Someone was happy with the purchase and I guess thats all that matters.

Only thing Rare has ever confirmed themselves was that the event codes would be rereleased.

Huntress figurehead, spinal figurehead, drum and eye of reach for example.

Never confirmed codes tied to purchases would be.

  • @dyfrin nah i dont get to play at work lol

  • @shakes-mcqueen
It's starting price was around $50 if I'm not mistaken, it ended at $321, I was watching it
    It was ridiculous
