Lost faith. open lobbies never fixed, crossplay optional will kill sot on pc.

  • I joined an open crew. It was completely empty for over half an hr of sailing solo towards a fort from the opposite side of the map. I'm the only guy soloing on my galleon driving towards a fort. Get all the way to the fort where a brig had just finished it and was loading up. 2 noobs finally join my crew (Full on sailors no items purchased yet) join and anchor my ship right before I get to the side of the brig. The brig then takes off and I fight with my crew for over 2 mins trying to lift the anchor. Finally get it lifted by raging at the noobs and take off after the brig. To late by that time meg spawned behind the brig and then hit our ship. I raged at the noobs and quit. The lobby took 30 mins to find me a crew who then sucked hairy arm hairs and prevented me from playing. Your pc servers merging currently are trash and you expect the pc servers to be better then this after adding s option to remove crossplay. Gl shot yourself in your own foot rare.

My first point. You say the servers are to stay full and merge. Ya that's some bs obviously sailing solo across the whole world of sot no one joined until 30 mins after. And at that point I didnt even want them to join as they just screwed everything up. I was soloing a galleon and all I get is some dumb noobs? You really think splitting crossplay is going to make this experience I just had any different? From that experience I can say with a fact crossplay being optional is the death of this game. The long waits for crews to merge into your empty crew. The fact you dont base my skill level on who should be able to join my crew. Open crew is still trash yet you plan to ruin the game more with optional crossplay. Goodluck with the suicide rare. Appeasing the casuals.

  • There is enough players on PC to support full servers by themselves there is a problem with matchmaking keeping servers from merging and crew slots from filling. It has nothing to do with population at this point.

  • Open crew suck, plain and simple. You had 30 minutes to create a LFG post and fill it with interested players.

  • Also, you have no idea what system those "noobs" were playing on, you cannot correlate that to cross-play at all.

I have had this discussed in hundreds of other threads with people and this talking point cant be used anymore. Needing to use a 3rd party to find a good game shouldn't be the case. I have been an active supporter of crew preferences which would not split the community like optional crossplay and would have actually fixed alot of the open crew issues. But again try to tell everyine who plays we need to use lfg to enjoy the game. (: just proving my point. Iv used lfg. And this post has nothing to do with lfg.

I didnt say crossplay was the issue with that. I said above that the game doesn't take my skill into consideration when trying to find other players that's just another thing that could be fixed and would happen less with search preferences. (:

I fully support skill level grouping as an option, would be nice not being slaughtered or easily doing the slaughtering. On that note, I do like helping new players so this would need to be optional as new player would only be matched with new or horrible players.

  • Both PC and Xbox have healthy numbers. the servers cap around 24 players, which is why you see post after post of silly person saying the experience is empty feeling, it's a vast world with a population of like 15-20 most times per server.

-that is just the way it's setup, it's not reflective of the actual population-

why are you even mentioning skill while it's obvious you're queuing into open crew, what did you expect, it's a completely random group in a noncompetitive game.

Sea of thieves is just not competitive, there is no ranking, no matchmaking for skill, there isn't a competition to even be had in game till the arena shows up. none of the events in game are aimmed at pvp, just pve events with pvp happening around them, why would you expect them to match-make anyone by skill.

it sounds like you're just whining about a bad experience, yes, the game just had a wave of new players, treat them nice -we want them to stay-, not get scared away by someone who wanted the perfect galleon experience in open crew calling them "noobs" and "raging at them to lift anchor"

  • Some people are quite personable and are a blast to meet in game.

Many others are just as dull, bossy, and/or toxic as hell.

Just like real life, a good time depends on timing, chemistry, communication, and personality.

It's not Rares fault some people are a stick in the mud. You want better company? Try crewing with pirate legends that need help with Athena runs.

Again this has nothing to do with lfg. And if lfg is the fix to this it needs to be built as an in game mechanic. I joined an open crew that had only me join in the entire 30 minute. (30 mins solo on a galleon waiting for a crew just to join) I dont have an issue playing with xbox players I have an issue with non mic players mostly. I open crew hopped at least 20 times this morning until I found my first mic lobby. I'm asking for search preferences as I have been basically since launch. Open crew is still trash as I have been complaining about since launch. and the majority of new player will be using open crew. So it obv needs some work. The time they put into splitting the community could have been spent fixing open crew issues and may not have ever needed the optional crossplay. we want search preferences not optional crossplay. The entire forum was against optional crossplay on launch. Listening to the overwhelmingly loud people on the forum will ruin the game.

  • @vderickv I don’t see how this isn’t an LFG-solved problem. It’s built into Microsoft and isn’t “third party” and your “need a mic” statement reinfoces that you want an LFG so you can make sure whomever you invite to your closed crew will have a mic. You’ll have a full crew in 15 min no problem.

Lfg on my pc doesnt even work. It works fine on my xbox but even then it's still a 3rd party to the game of sea of theives. Its not built in so no lfg doesnt solve the problem If anything lfg creates more issues in open crew. I rest my case.

  • @vderickv You rest your case? You’re the one who wants crews with mics and to not be alone in a galleon for 30 minutes. You’ve got the solution - why are you making it needlessly difficult on yourself? Or you can continue to sail the seas alone or with whatever mic-less first-time sailor accidentally hit “open crew?” I don’t understand.

And one other thing I don’t understand: who cares about “third party” for LFG - which it’s Microsoft who’s got your gamertag and info already.

  • @haydnsym45 I'll refer back to my previous message you obviously glossed over. Lfg doesn't work on my pc. And I'm not only going to play sot only on my xbox where my lfg works fine.

  • @haydnsym45
my xbox app on my pc has always just been a bug fest.
i have contacted Microsoft about it already.
There customer service just hangs up on you when their tests cant figure it out.
If you've got a solution toss it my way.

However. I'm talking about open crew needing search preferences and or just needs work. rares poor choice of time working to split the community more instead of fixing poor quality gameplay. I just experienced 20 lobbies of non micers. Until I met my first mic group. The open crew is already supposed to auto detect mic settings. That doesnt even work.

  • @vderickv

Let’s assume it’s irrecovably broken. Then you’ve got two possible solutions - do LFG in Xbox then switch to PC after you’ve made your new friends. Or play on PC with your friends and switch to Xbox when your friends are off.

Open crews - just don’t. And if you’re already having problems filling up open as is, then your odds are wayyy down once you add preferences.

I have done this as it obv works. Its lame and I could just play something that doesnt take 2 consoles for me to start a party. (Obv this issue only applies to ppl like me who's xbox app is janky on their pc)
When they add new content I always come back. But for continued content. We need more 24 players or 6 ships. Maybe that's not enough per server. I'd much rather have more full servers.. also. 30 minutes sailing towards a fort waiting for people to join. Rare says this doesn't happen and their merging system works great. Lol

You're right it's not rares fault anyone is a stick in the mud.
However. It is their fault that I need to use lfg in order to find a pirate legend looking for others to help.

I myself am a pirate legend. I am the guy looking for help. I know it's possible with search preferences. Rare is dropping the ball here. But they can still pick it up.

  • i think your wrong but your entitled to your opinion. I think alot of people will keep the crossplay option on for adventure and some i think about 25% will turn it off for arena how ever its gonna work based on these recent changes and future updates i think the game will remain the same just give it patience people forget about how much the game grew over night recently

A secret network known only to pirate legends, you toggle it on and it crews you with random PL's.

Better yet, you sign up at the hideout.
