I expected a black hull with white accents and instead you get a mix of black, dull white, and maroon? There should be a ship preview option within the shop that allows you to fully preview the ship before you spend money on it. Its kind of weird that the picture doesn't even come close to what you actually get. It took me a decent chunk of time to get 49k and I didn't even get what I wanted for my ship.
Hunter Hull is a completely different color compared to the shop photo.
I think a system where before the game even starts, you can go to the 'shops' and be able to choose one of the three ships (that you can change as you go). You'd be presented with a bare bones boat of your choice in the water that you can rotate around and zoom in/out of and have every single livery, whether you have the rank or not, available to choose from to find the boat the player wants. This will especially allow new players to find their perfect boat and giving them their target goals for gold and rep. The same should be applied to clothing, equipment, and weapons with your character on screen that you can rotate, etc, and create the look they want.
The reason they should have this option before signing in is to reduce the amount of outpost loiterers that are shopping when some of us really need to turn in and inevitably sink their boat and kill them, or move on to another outpost out of paranoia.
