So now that Rare has announced the intent on splitting the player base people believe that PC players will no longer have full servers. I Think giving Xbox players aim assist would be a great resolution to this but not too heavy of a aim assist. I think any PC player can admit that it is pretty easy facing an Xbox player, We just have more control over aiming and Implementing a aim assist system would fix that and improve the game in the long run bringing more of a challenge over all.
Giving Xbox Players Aim Assist
@mcgovery Its not like you speak for anyone i just thought it would have been a better choice and would have fixed the issue it self.
@natsu-v2 you want to keep PC from consoles and buy a game which has been shouting since day one: Crossplay.
Why buy something that clearly goes against your own wishes?
@cotu42 Because I'm good enough at the game to almost never get sunk. Also I have been playing the game since 2016, before PC players were even allowed to play. Also, crossplay is just one aspect of the game. There are many others I enjoy. But as an industry-wide trend I am opposed to crossplay and want things to go back to how they were.
I think a better question is: If you care about server population and finding games, why play anything at all on PC? I used to be a PC gamer and quit because every game was dead like a year or two later. There are so many games and sales on PC that the community is spread so thin. It's just part and parcel with being a PC gamer to have bad populations. So I take offense whenever PC players say "You chose to play on controller, so suffer the consequences." Well, you chose to play on PC, so you need to accept having no one to play with.
@natsu-v2 what is so wrong with these PC gamers? They are also people with a passion for the same things as you.
I don't get why you would not want to meet and interact with others that enjoy the same things in life as yourself.
Diversity is a good thing when dealing with people, it enriches us as a person.
I play on a computer, cause to be honest buying a console while I have a great computer is just expensive and redundant. I use my computer for more than just gaming and it suits me fine.
@cotu42 I don't have a problem with the players themselves, I just want complete parity for multiplayer games. PC is a wild west ecosystem where anyone can have any advantage under the sun that you'd have no idea about. There's such breadth of options from DPI settings to specially designed keyboards to in-game settings that you just have no idea if that guy is really better than you or if he's found a more optimal way to play. I don't mind optimizing play but PC has me paralyzed with options and that's just not enjoyable, and I don't want them bringing that ecosystem into the walled garden approach that consoles offer where the only difference now is 4K and an elite controller. And even then I despise the existence of the elite controller and the 1X.
@natsu-v2 the walled off concept is also slowly dwindling.
People are already upgrading to SSD and different controllers, soon mouse and keyboard which will bring along the DPI settings and all that jazz.
It is why I was hoping that SoT would be a front runner in making crossplay balanced. They have the talent, budget and experience to figure out the design issues and work them out. Make a game where input preferences are actually just that. I believe it is a change in the industry that is not avoidable.
Now as we already noticed in this post, people will just state: Opt out of you don't like it. Instead of us exchanging ideas on how to make it work for everyone.
@cotu42 If enough people fight back then it is avoidable. I don't want input modes to be a preference. That is an extremely dangerous road to go down for competitive gaming.
@natsu-v2 I don't think that competition games are at risk. Though not every game needs to be an eSports title or have every mode abide by those rules. Why divide adventure mode in this game which is about social interaction? Why not make it preference based instead?
The reason why eSports are not in da ger is due to that in eSports we are talking about a minimal amount of deviation in tactic or input will make others obsolete, we are talking about the best players in the world.
Just as making the best and effective ways to win in a game to easy to execute, it will destroy any other option in normal casual games.
Aim assist does nothing to mitigate the fact that Xbox players have 30 fps and some PC players have upwards of 120 fps. It's not a fair fight. Wouldn't even be if all PC players used controllers. Nothing except stopping crossplay can level the playing field. PC players can react four times as fast as console players. Simple fact based on frame rate. By the time you see a PC player, he has already seen you four frames. And the first one triggered his reaction. By the time you are actually reacting, you are already dead as a console player.
@x1-two I'm not trying to argue, but reaction isn't entirely dependent on FPS. It's the combination of your brain, your personal reaction, and your sensitivity on your controller. Try messing with the settings a bit for the controller on the game, and see if that helps.
I've seen some xbox players with a controller be better than me on PC in every way possible, including having better reaction time with less FPS. That argument doesn't really hold ground to me.
@modern-inferno The same player is better on PC. If your reaction time is the same, you use the same controls, it's only down to frame rate (and/or resolution).

If you're we're as good as you brag then you would not be begging for segregating players.
@dah-hooded aim assist wouldn't be fair or fun. I wouldnt really even mind the double gun if it wasnt a instant kill as i spawn in because they are looking at my shadow on the ground at spawn points so i die before i load

It's not like you do either 😂
The magic of SoT is precisely the fact that most of the things in the game do not have any kind of assist. Where there is such a thing is where we really need it, like when we park the rowboat behind the ship, it's easy to place the cannonballs (it leaves the battle more dynamic), things like that. Putting an aim assist would make the game lose its proposal. Aiming is fun, challenging, only the best players have good aim (I'm not one of them). The less help we have, the better players we will become.
