Choice of Spawn When You First Log-In

  • Was thinking about this the other day. I'm a solo slooper who loves playing in the Devil's Roar area, and I would really love the ability to choose where you spawn on the map when you first log in. As long as it's when you first log-in and not when your ship dies, I don't see an issue with it as you'd be changing servers.

But it feels bad to spawn at Sanctuary outpost when I want to play in Devil's Roar. Depending on the wind it can take 20-30 minutes just to get there. Thoughts?

  • @Sw1tchO I second that. It would definitely be a nice quality of life improvement.

The issue with this is that players wouldn't be able to spawn on top of each other - which means that if we both select devil's roar, we are place into 2 different server instances... which means this would probably be happening all the time.

I agree it would be super nice, but it feels a little improbable at this point.

(Let me just say, those 20-30mins wouldn't feel so bad if there were more things to do on the ships as you sail along... like cooking... or fishing... Don't blame me for pushing my own agenda xD)

  • I only like the Roar. But really I would love a regional option when you first spawn in.

  • @sw1tcho Thank you for the suggestion! I like the idea but I think I agree a lot more with @Hooligan-WiFT with the choosing a region instead, if they were to add something like that of course. But that's just my personal opinion. Keep up the suggestions! Have fun and happy sailing! :D

  • it doesnt take long to sail from one side to the other, and picking where to spawn would just be broken

  • @sw1tcho The problem is that the game tries (not always successfully) to load you in to an area that's reasonably far from any other crew. If we could choose where to spawn we'd start to see crews dropping in next to other crews. Which while in my view could lead to all sorts of shenanigans, it would also raise some complaints on fairness.

Perhaps an option to spawn specifically in the Roar (which ever island is most suitable at the time) for those wanting to take that risk, could be beneficial.

  • Very good idea!

  • Pirate Legends should have the option to choose where they spawn by sailing out of the Legendary Hideout (like they promised us).
I wouldn't mind if the ship spawns in the middle of the map. Let's say the arch in the middle of the map is some kind of Ancient Portal...
    Just saying.

  • Would be nice, but if I ever want to start up a session to play in the dr I server hop until I get a spawn on ancient spire and sail for what 5 mins? to the devil's roar, not sure if you also do this but it's a good way to do it instead of sailing from say golden Sands 😂

  • Maybe it should let you choose if you want to start at devil's roar but i wouldn't extend the feature as I think it will primarily increase the effectivness of stream snipers....

  • @Sw1tchO well my go-to strategy is just to start the game with a book in hand and then quit and restart whenever I load in too far from the Roar -- still takes some time, but it's less than 20-30 minutes (and the book helps pass that time). :) Not optimal, I know, but the best we have for now.

  • @sw1tcho I'm not sure if this is a thing, but I almost every session spawn at the last outpost I've been in the session before...so try to leave the session when you're at Ancient Spire...should spawn next session there

  • @schwammlgott I think itll always put you somewhere random that's far from players, no?

But yes good ideas on just logging out and in until you're close. That's still pretty clunky though. And if you choose a region and there's a ship at the outpost, you just might have to spawn at one of the islands instead maybe?

  • @sw1tcho maybe the "matchmaking" leads you to the server where your "log-out-post" (🤣🤣) is far away from other players...
Don't know, it's just a theory...just what I experienced, over 6 months playing almost every day and the outpost I finished was the outpost I spawned next time...it was very very rare that I spawned on another outpost or an island...actually I can't remember spawning on another outpost...just on islands sometimes...
