Got on this morning with a friend that wanted to try SOT....we sloop it. Figures the time I get on without my galley crew the ocean is full of ships. We went by a skull fort, that a galley was at. I told him, brace yourself cuz were gonna get peppered by the fort, and prob by them. Was gonna be a drive by on the way to a treasure hunt. They sword lunge and board the ship …. I cant kill em alone, and he didn't know what to do haha. I've killed a lot of people and say stuff like "nice try.... maybe next time....sorry, were sometimes friendly" but never like these guys yelling [Mod edited] "you guys suck" like every time . cuz once they got us they kept us...till we scuttled. I was recording it, but cant use that footage for youtube, and I cant say their names on here but man, if ever there was a time I wished my sloop with a new player was my galley with my usual crew. plus they had the 2shot macro going in full effect. I would just say to them "were just killing time, we don't want your loot......hes new to sot" and we just get the "well you suck" haha. sheesh. sore winners.
sore losers is one thing, but Sore Winners?
@johnny-vain That's just nasty. There's no reason to disrespect other crews when killing them. But some people feel superior when they're "beating" in the game I guess...
I only hope the new players realize that not everyone is like this on SoT.
@johnny-vain Ahoy matey!
Sorry to hear you've had a bit of a rough time out on the seas, this behaviour is 100% not tolerated by Rare.
If you believe a player has been toxic in the game, you can report them to Xbox Live here. You can also submit a support ticket to Rare Player Support.
@darth-noc said in sore losers is one thing, but Sore Winners?:
I'm willing to bet that their attitudes would've been no different if you had defeated them. Some players are abrasive no matter the outcome.
It usually gets worse when you kill people that are toxic as hell.
@Johnny-Vain - Doubleshots are wonderful aren't they? (Course not) but i have encountered similar people....or i do all the time just report them to the MS Support and Rare Support then poooofff they get warned/banned for a couple of days.
Yeah it's a shame that people aren't better sports.
I love some hillarious banter. Pirate roleplay, police roleplay, jokes or even just people laughing like maniacs as they bounce around the ship is funny. Abuse is just unpleasant, neither side gets a laugh out of it, it either makes you look like a sore loser or a total scrub who doesn't experience victory very often.
I don't really get it to be honest. Why would you shout abuse at someone when you are playing a video game?
I've had the same sort of stuff shouted at me by peasants when I was sailing around solo on an A10 sloop full of loot flying a reaper's mark.
"I'm trash + expletives? I'm the one sailing around with a giant set of balls in an A10 reaper's sloop with 20k loot on board like it ain't nothing, you're the ones who only had the balls to attack me because there was 4 of you and it still took you 45 minutes to sink me"
Hmmm... I wonder if they’re pc players... I digress. The only thing toxic about SoT’s social interactions are the naughty words. Otherwise, this type of trolling is built into the dna of the game. When a note on the ferry of the damned cheerfully suggests scuttling your ship, it is obvious that spawn killing(to use an extremity) is a welcomed mechanic on behalf of the developers, or at least an unintentional bi-product of SoT’s core mechanics.
Side note: Troll prevention has come a long way. Does anyone recall playing halo 2 and getting blue-screened by cheaters? It was rampant in the high-ranked playlists!
@johnnykappow dbout it, like all of us, the first awe is the visual and sounds of the game. Next weekend I'm gonna put him with me and 2 of my galley mates. Hit record and seek revenge. Problem is when we 4 are out for action we never run into people like this. THEN AGAIN. Usually were destroying them so bad at a fort that loud mouths like this are in a panic and afraid to yell. For once they were winning and let out all their anger on us.
