- Thick heavy fog slowly starts approaching your ship, the waves become silent, nothing but the creaking sounds of your ship woosh WOOSH something flashes by your view. Something you can't seem to touch. Spirits of the damned have come to sink your ship there's nothing you can do but run! Try to escape the thick mist navigating blind unable to fight back as the spirits piercing screams strike fear into every nerve of your body. Hurry or you will be joining them soon.
We have Kraken and Megalodon but they aren't that scary just annoying at times and they can be killed. The seas were horrifying for pirates but that just led to the excitement. We need more things (sorta like volcanoes) that pose a threat and scare us from the ocean and make us need to steel our nerves when we choose to set sail on them. An enemy you can't fight against and HAVE to escape is the perfect reason. With the sound design team clearly being amazing having some haunting creepy spirits with loud piercing screams rushing my ship over and over while im blinded in fog would make me shard myself and also get me filled with adrenaline if I have loot.

We have no undersea civilizations. Statues and sunken ships aren't that great. We need a reason to go underwater but not just for a few seconds. Find caves or entire sunken cities or islands to explore. Trapped air due to the way the land has taken form. Let me go underwater and feel scared of sharks not because I fell off my boat and they magically spawn 20 seconds later. Underwater life is severely lacking for a game where you spend SO much time at sea. Where are the sirens? The intractable/aggressive mermaids? (NO SWIMMING SKELLIES) Where's MobyDick or Giant squids (not the kraken) pirannahs etc.? Give me a reason to go into the water but also a reason to think twice about leaving my ship for sunken treasure

Biomes or at least more weather. The devils roar was great for this idea as a starter, but for christmas we got no snow, we got no frost we got none of that. The world feels alive but it also feels the same with nothing but day night and rain. Give me a snowy area far up north where I snowstorms and yetis are or a place to have snowball fights (not very piratey but fun) with friends. Snow leopards etc. give me something to to spice up the world other than more skellies

I've said it before and im going to keep saying it, WE NEED A GOVERNMENT TO FIGHT AGAINST. Pirates had a lot to worry about on the seas, but you know what they dealt with the most? The government. They were wanted men. I'll admit I don't know how that'll work out, but pirates would band together to avoid armies. They had to deal with the threat of being hanged all the time. I want to risk dying and have a penalty. I want that if I get caught I get put in jail and have to pay a fee to get out in X amount of days if i'm not rescued by friend or foe and if I don't I get hanged and lose gold or rep or something important. I get it, this isn't the worlds hardest game but damn it I want risk and I want fear to excite me, i'm sick of being able to afk on this game and nobody shows up to kill me even when I have the reapers mark up. If players won't do it I want the AI to and being able to just kamikaze with no penalty is honestly just stupid. I know this isn't the type game but death should mean something more than what it does now because the amount of times I have or someone else has jumped on my/their ship and blew up and was like lolwewin is just dumb. You shouldn't win anything if you died with me/them.

Witches, Idk much on this fact but I believe pirates DID consult or partner with or even disliked witches in their time. I know the gov. hated them and hung women suspected of being one but idk about pirates.
Just a few ideas I had browsing through the game I didn't mention obvious ones like a non-hostile zone or w/e just stuff I personally thought would add to the game feeling more alive and piratey as opposed to a swimming pool of friends. Friends are nice but i'm a pirate not a care bare
