I am writing this with the hopes that the Dev’s will read this. This is about the Ghost Meg’s availability. A buddy and I have been sailing through the fog looking to encounter the Ghost Meg for at least an hour every 2-3 days for 3 weeks to no avail. Now I’m not expecting for the thing to pop up as soon as you touch the fog every time you enter the fog but how about just showing itself. The one time we encountered a meg in the fog it wasn’t even the Ghost Meg it was the Hungering One. With the extreme rarity of the Ghost Meg only coming out in fog why would you have other Meg’s spawn in the fog. I also have a question regarding the Ghost Meg. If you do happen to encounter it and the fog rolls out does the Meg change to a different Meg or can you continue fighting the Ghost Meg in clear air. Is there a specific region the Ghost Meg spawns or is it just wherever the fog happens to form. It’s becoming very disheartening searching for a mythical creature.
Ghost Meg’s availability
@sithlordmattyj I hear ya it is very rare maybe a little too rare. With all the complaints though I imagine the devs will address it down the road.
I been sailing these cursed waters for only 2 weeks, yet i experienced everything that game has to offer.
Got pirate legend, level 8 athena, bought all vanity items i wanted, this game is too shallow on content let's be honest.Except one thing, Shrouded Ghost, that thing is legend.
I dont expect to see him anytime soon, may took weeks, months, but when i finally meet him im gonna be very happy.
Game would need more super rare things like Shrouded Ghost, reason to keep playingEven though i like the rarity of items as it brings to life rumors I do think they could at least modify it to appear far away and as soon as you give chase there is a big chance it will sink beneath the waves or disappear in to the mist.
This at least gives you some hope instead of never ever running in to it.Also i wouldn't mind the Box of Wondrous Secrets modified to not be thaaaaat rare, I have played forsaken shores ever since it started and play 3 or 4 times a week, always trying to look for that chest in Devils roar with no luck so in my opinion something that rare makes it not worthwhile looking for it.
@sithlordmattyj You don't have to look for the fog all the time, it's not related to the meg, I saw a streamer just sailing in the Roar and he got the ghost meg.
@sithlordmattyj Ahoy!
The Shrouded One is the most famous myth on the Sea of Thieves. Some pirates claimed to have seen the beast while others have gone completely mad searching for it! And with any great myth come stories, rumors, and whispers.
One of those rumors is that the Shrouded One only spawns in the fog. This is however false. There have been a couple recorded sightings with the beast outside of the fog. It's free to roam the seas and only it chooses when to emerge.
In all seriousness though I wouldn't focus on searching for it as there isn't a sure way to spawn it. It's completely random and supposed to be super rare by design. I'd focus on completing other tasks in the game and if you happen to hear the roar of a meg pray to Neptune that it's the Shrouded One.
I am on the seas far more than is healthy, I am sure. In fact I probably spend as many hours sailing as I do working (sad, but true). I have nearly completed the killing of 50 of each meg as a legend, yet in all that time, I have not found a single shrouded ghost. I don't mind super rare encounters or items in this game. I think that adds some much needed mystique. My issue is when you tie a completion of a commendation to said rare item.
@sithlordmattyj I have encountered the ghost twice, the first time I was solo on a brig and had just finished two skelly galleons. So I was super low on supplies and was on my way to an outpost to restock/sell. So sadly I had to leave that ghost behind.
The second time was again in the fog, and we actually were able to fight it. I had two other capable pirates on my brig, so we were able to get some good hits in. Sadly, because it is a ghost almost too literally in the fog, it is hard to spot. So you lose it often. Sadly, after quite some time, the fog lifted the ghost went back into hiding. We tried chasing the fox, but to no avail. It was gone.
I have tried many other times and have not been able to get the ghost to come out of hiding. I am willing to bet I have spent 30-40 hours of game play in the fog searching. The funny thing is, the two times I did encounter it, I was not trying to find it. The first I was simply sailing to an outpost, and the second we were sailing towards some allies that had spawned a kraken.
And for both encounters, there was no growl/huge splash entry. There was a growl/chomp on your boat. Both times it just came out of nowhere with a quick attack.

@sithlordmattyj People hunt for Bigfoot and the Wolfman. Nobody's ever found one, do you see cryptid fanatics giving up?
If you make one of the game's rarest bosses more common, it loses a few things.
It loses that mythical status.
It loses that satisfaction of finally getting one.
and it loses the value of having that "Hunter of The Shrouded Ghost." title. Its the same with the box of wondrous secrets, people are gonna bully the devs into making these rare occurrences easy to find, and then they're gonna wonder why the satisfaction isn't what they wanted.@grindtony45 you've been playing the game for only 2 weeks and you're a pirate legend? Maybe I read it wrong?
@eva1977 Same here, I even saw a pic that a friend of mine sent me that they got from twitter showing someone had two side by side on their ship. Yet I have not seen a single one. LOL
I been PvEing hard those 2 weeks, when i had chance to pvp i didnt run, fought hard and won 99% of time
The only video I have seen of Ghost Meg didn't appear to be in the fog...
I'll live it as an external link as I can't remember if there was any swearing :D
@sithlordmattyj did you bag a box of wondrous secrets already? Might be a better pursuit of your time....I guess the Dark side has betrayed you.

I agree with this. I do. My only issue is that they tie it to a legendary commendation.
Let's just assume that I put 40 hours a week into sailing. I am going with that number because it is a conservative number for the amount of time I put in (I really do love this game). Let's also assume that it takes 50 ghost megs (like the other megs) to achieve the Legendary Hunter of the Shrouded Ghost. I am assuming 50 as I don't even know how many it takes yet as the chains are still on that box. Let's also assume that one just flops onto my boat and dies when I log in today. Now let's do the math:
8 weeks since Shrouded Spoils launched x 40 hours a week x 50 megs = 16,000 hours of play time to complete the commendation.
That is more than 7 and a half years of game play at a very dedicated 40 hours a week....
I haven't posted anything other than praise for this game. Even when they added additional legendary commendations that I had surely completed when I was already Athena 10. I play this game a lot, and I will continue to come back to sail the seas daily. Rare encounters like the ghost meg, or the box of secrets are great. I love that they are near mythical in encounter levels. For all the casual players that put in a few hours a week and have already killed one? Congratulations, you lucky sons of bilge rats! A title for finding and killing one is a great way to show that you were one of the lucky ones. This, however, feels like punishment from the devs for people that like to have the boxes checked off for achieving something, but then complained that that they were able to blow through all the accomplishments and have nothing to do. Kind of a "Cake walk this, you unappreciative little (self edited)".... lol
