Access to armory on the Ship of the Damned !

  • To help ease the situation of spawn camping an armory should be added to the Ferry of the Damned so players have a chance of switching weapons once they get killed on their ship.

This would allow a player to choose the best weapon depending on the situation...
It would not be abusable as you'll always spawn on your ship wich is the same place where you would change weapons anyway !

This could ease the spawn camping on ships, simply by giving full access to the fighting options players already have.
The problem when spawn camping is often there is no time to switch weapons when you're getting camped on your ship...

This would allow for players to adopt different approches when getting camped on their ship so they are not being forced to use the same weapons they got killed with without a real chance of swapping to preffered weapon/s.

  • not to bad of an idea, but I think the biggest issue with the spawn camping is your character will spawn in while you still see a black screen, giving the other crew an easy target. Black Screen is the biggest problem.

  • @instatikz

I don't know how it would work, as you cannot take out weapons on the Ferry of the Damned. However, Rare should be able to make it work. Probably just not switching to it and leaving it away?

  • @instatikz I think it's a good idea

You remain invisible and invicible (in case timing with explosives or random shots) locked in the armory screen until you select your weapons.
When you select weapons you become visible and start playing.

Simply loading in as invisible and invincible and when you click it starts... so it's fair on both ends...as you have the same time as the other has to realise were you both are at.

And that's how spawn camping was not completly solved but got a lot better.

  • @instatikz

That would be a lot better, although could be abused it you could talk in that screen.

  • @Instatikz You got my vote. If it's easy for Rare to implement, this seems like a no brainer to me.

  • It's a good Idea no matter what.
You're dead you've got time to do things, even if you died to skeletons and need to switch up weapons for a fight against goldies I'd still say it saves time from having to run to the Weapons locker on your ship.

@ENTICED-MALICE The loading screen doesn't cause a problem with spawn caming because unlike what people think you're not spawned in untill you yourself have vision and you can move as soon as you see the world/are seen in the world. (I've seen X-box players spawn in front of me on a galleon and take off imediately after). This however doesn't take away that loading just takes too long.

  • Inherently not a bad idea, but I still don't like it for 2 reasons:

    1. during a fight, you should expect to be boarded, and as such should be prepared beforehand; and
    2. changing it on the ferry to accomodate PvE deaths reduces the importance of the armory on the ship.

Not sure if it is still the case, but at one point you could see the players shadow being cast on the floor as they were loading and know right where they were going to spawn when they loaded in.

Thats not true, shadow is rendered one/two seconds before the pirate, so, as Archangel Timmy say, is possible to spawn camp before the player loaded.

  • A good addition to the game. Liked it!
