Skeleton ship Ai “unfair” for one man sloop

  • So far for “me”, the skeleton ships are seemingly unfair to beat, it’s obvious that if you try hard enough you can, but as a one man sloop you can just simply be blasted off by a gunshot or cannon fire. and encountering them more than once? I wish I didn’t have to deal with them, I don’t know if I’m missing out any ways to prevent them from ever spawning or any other tricks, it’s just annoying and ruins the experience of a one man sloop for me of course, if anyone can help with this solution please feel free, sorry to complain

  • solo sloop main here. i dont see them as a problem anymore, just free loot.

give them a thorough and evenly spread barrage as soon as they surface. include a full round of 10 cannonballs, and any cursed balls you think would be prudent. ballastballs pretty much guarantee that they sink, as will a sleep or dance ball. then, set your wheel to turn into them, and turtle below deck to repair, until you hear the smash.

if they aren't sunk at this point, which they might be, then they will be very close. finish repairing while you're cuddling them, pull away, and finish them off.

  • @chrisv322 I sail solo (in a sloop) myself and I don't have that much of a problem with Skelleons anymore. They are easy enough to take down (if you consistently shoot the lowest deck), bail and repair at times, and make sure you have one or two curse cannonballs with you. But it can also depend on what they shoot at you. Well in terms of avoiding them, then you have to play a game of chance to no come across them or let alone have them spawn unexpectedly. Experience wise, it's kind of fun and it gives good loo at times. Might just have to practice here and there.

  • I sunk an Skalleon a few days ago Solo for my 1st Time, it’s hard, it’s very hard as Solo Slooper! An Solution for this Problem is, let Skelly Sloops spawn on Player Sloops, easy!

  • Solo slooper here and I also find them very easy.. I suggest you should take some time to learn and maybe play with a crew if it's too difficult!

No, they are not easy. It takes time and skill development, but you can learn to beat them. But please don't dismiss it as easy to newer players who may be frustrated. Not to mention the RNG of getting hit with the wrong series of Cursed Cannonballs.

For me? I turn, anchor-brake, and speed off... I can lose them every time if I do this.

  • I also agree that they are easy to take down. One problem for me is completing the cargo deliveries. Yesterday I started at Sanctuary Outpost, had to deliver cargo to The Spoils of Plenty Store. I loaded 5 crates of rum, 2 cloth, 1 plant, looked around, all clear, head west. Half way there I get the siren, skeleton ship comes up from underwater. All of that rum is smashed within seconds. Obviously I don't care about the money I lost from the rum, I made more from sinking them but I'm trying to get commendations for selling the rum. Which is now useless. If I had seen a skeleton ship, I would have avoided it and completed my delivery successfully.
I like having the skeleton ships in the world, but I feel that they shouldn't have the ability to surprise attack us from the depths.

  • @lethality1 Ok then but I said I find them easy! Not you! I also said if you are having problems learn or play with a crew! "unfair" absolutely not! You're post title is saying unfair for one man sloop.. I'm a one man sloop and they are not unfair!.. make a new post for "New players" not one man sloops

  • @chrisv322 Although beating them hasn't been much of an issue for me, I'm with you in that both the skeleton ships and the Meg seem to appear way to often and its starting to become a nuisance. They should be a rare enough occurrence that having to deal with both at the same time should be a damn near statistical impossibility.

  • @castle26 I think just making these encounters not happen simultaneously would be a tremendous improvement for solo sloops and all others alike really. A galleon could be fine if organized, but there's only so much multitasking a solo sloop can have in that event.

  • Strategy. Go to the skelly, make him follow you to a island, rock or something like that, put your sloop bow or stern close to the rock/island and lift the sails. The skelly will go around the rock/isle/you. Then it enter on your cannon aim field, shoot. When it goes, repair your ship.

  • @chrisv322 yeah, just logged back in after a good year and a half hiatus, spent 2 hours collecting skulls for rep just to get bullied by AI skelly's who STILL have immeasurable amounts of the highest accuracy, just to sink and lose everything. An EASY uninstall for me, thanks RARE.

  • Solo sloop. Have no problem with skeleton sloops. But Skelleon is too tough not for me for now.

First of all holy old necro, dont reopen posts that are more then 30 days old, let alone over a year.

the ships that spawn on you can be dealt with relatively easy once you know the tricks of the trade, ill get back to that.

What i want to make you aware of first is to keep an eye out for the fleet event with the giant ship cloud in the sky, these are WAY harder to do solo (still doable but harder) but can be easily be bypassed once you are aware of it, simply dont sail towards/into the cloud region and you will be fine, this is also the only way to get more then one ship to spawn on you at the same time.

For the other random skelly ship spawns on you, the skellyships dont bail out any water thats in their hull and each drop of water entering their hull will slow them down more and more, it is understandable that if you took a long break from the game this might be unknown but skelly ships that spawn on you always announce them selves with music, at that point get supplies in your pockets quick and listen for the side they are breaching the water on, once you hear that you can be ready on that side with cannon shots and give them 10 c’balls before they shoot one.

At that point they are slowed down so much you can easily get away or sink them.
