You know those dry erase magic markers? Any color you desire and it's also not permanent, but the plumbers tape is a very cool idea; never thought of doing that. I can see that giving some very nice crisp edges!

Thats very silly to say. I am only on PC and I never been killed once by a good xbox player that moves good. I want fair play in this just as they want. You also are insulting, yet are 'claiming' pc has the advantage of higher FPS. So that makes it even more silly.
The whole thing is, we have mouse kb that gives us way more controll over these type of games.
if you dont see advantage inbetween having a good branded mouse (Zowie, Logitech, what not) vs a controller movement....) I dont know what you have been playting with. I have a G402 and clearly whenever I move my mouse its smooth as heck where I want it to go. It isnt the case with controller. I can directly flick 180 degrees. Controller cant.

Having bought a new keyboard, mouse and headset for my PC I switched from console (original Xbone) to see how much of an advantage I would have - and I can't not notice the difference.
I load quicker, I fight better, I can communicate in game and be in party chat at the same time and generally it just works better. I won't be changing back after playing like this.

I have actually played VS known PC players and with PC players and yet never once felt as if I was at a disadvantage.
I even played on my crew members high end PC; the difference was not in the mouse and keybord, but in how damn nice the graphics look.
As for performance vs the Elite controller; meh. Not even remotely worth the cost of a high end PC that's needed to surpass the X-Box.
You can have a PC, but that doesn't mean it's better than an X-Box, it just means you have a PC. My old laptop cannot compete with my X-Box, yet players say PC has all the advantage.
Truth is only high end PC have that pretty graphics look, and old and cheap PC's can't compete at all.
Moreover not all X-Box platforms are equal.

I have played real competitive games that requires Mouse and keyboard; this is not one of them.

Actually I believe we should try and provide a system and play where input device is a preference. The OP stated himself he isn't amazing, nor aspires to focus on improvement as they play for fun. That is perfectly fine and normal. He also had tons of loot on board and lost a battle. Then blames it on input device, which is in the end not the reason he lost that much. His choice of holding it and providing a situation where close quarter combat and sinking were an option.

I have not played on an Xbox one as I don't own one, I have played on an xBox 360 controller to understand and determine the severity of the gap.
I noticed no difference and even benefits in managing the ship and cannons on a controller.
This game is about naval positioning and combat as much as close quarter combat. Which if played well can even be completely negated (CQC) unless they actually manage to shoot themselves over with a cannon or ram you, after using cursed cannonballs (which also has to do with positioning). Else it is about ladder defense.
Sea of Thieves is more than just a shooter.
3 What is you Game Dev knowledge level?
I have a bachelor in game design and I am a test engineer.

On my xbox controls I remapped the banana and bucket for easier use as they are crucial. Same goes for my jump button, I am personally not a huge fan of the default button layout though it is a preference thing.
Edit: Additionally if it takes you 30 secs and multiple tries to use the equipment wheel, there is some major improvements to make on a personal skill level when it comes to input. It most likely means you are trying to be too quick and provide a new input before completion, which btw is also true for PC.

That isn't true, else we would have regional hit boxes with different damage values, for instance.
RARE has been considering crossplay from the start and are continuing to monitor and adapt.

Well, tell that to my buddy who can beat me about half of the times on his xBox elite controller and latest xbox model (we have battled on servers where we bought multiple ships and I challenged him to a one on one and we kept fighting for over an hour).

The system is not perfect and can be improved. Just the statements like the best players can't match PC players is just false. I have always stated there is a gap, but it is also not an insurmountable issue either. Have ideas for improvements and they are reasonable I will be for them. Opting out is cheap, easy and doesn't benefit the crossplay future in the industry. While giving people the lame excuse: dont like it, cannot handle it just don't play with PC players, sea of thieves is a social game and about interaction with others. Speration of players doesn't benefit that.
As a game dev I would assume you would embrace the future rather than try to avoid it.

A small difference, basically in the part of the audio, where the PC players can listen to group and play at the same time. In PvP the difference is only noticed during the exchange of shots, but still, very little. Currently I work as Front-End developer (web), but I participated in several Game Jams as a developer and designer. I even did a demo of a pirate game with friends.This game is 100% optimized for the advantage off pc player currently.
The game can be even optimized for the advantage of PC gamers, but which FPS game is not? However, the advantage is too small in this particular game. The time spent on PvP is too small for a separation. Still, a good cutlass player easily wins from a double-gunner. 10 shots X 5 shots + "infinite" cutlass.

Only if it's the ones you know. I participate in a dozen communities, I know great Xbox players. I myself am not the best player and I'm tired of seeing people cursing me in the text chat of the game (PC exclusive).

Just increase the sensitivity in xbox, you gain agility. In the beginning it takes time, but soon it gets used to it.I have been a software developer for over 30 years. I have developed several games and a few simulations with artificial intelligence. I’ve built many PCs. I can safely say the the difference between a Xbox one X with SSD and a mainstream PC isn’t that big. Heck, this setup is better than the PCs I built a few years ago. Sure, game pads don’t allow the twitch aiming of kB/m but with a lot of practice, which I have ALOT of, you can get pretty d@mned good.
Also, my credentials have squat to do with this topic, anyway. I sound like a fool even mentioning it.

@harshcoza I’m wondering why you added me in to this more when I haven’t given any ideals on the subject but a bit of joking. I play solely Xbox but ik pc players can bind items to certain keys. Aiming is easier for pc players and so is double gunning, do I hate them for it, sometimes. To say the pc is at a disadvantage though is a bit crazy. We all have advantages and disadvantages that make us closely equal. PCs can load faster, better aiming and such. Xbox has it easy to do party chat? I guess... not great of a advantage when it comes to game chat which I happen to use when going with randoms or some times with friends. Mostly PCs are at an advantage. If double gunning was made more balanced then I’ll be ok with it, but right now it’s not. And I can’t do the same things double gunners do and I can’t dodge them when I swing my sword so closely. Heck even long range fight sucks if I don’t kill a double gunner sooner since if the get the first shot they definitely get that second one in too.

The fact u collect for 4 hour and half chest wasn t a clever things to do when ur crew don't have a great pvp players for defend it. But every pc players here aren't honnest here. Or simply they don't know what is like to play on xbox.
I was on xbox one x when i start play sea of thieves... now im on alienware and i still play with a controler... so it should be the same right? Well no it isn't at all . I don't know why but even the controler react better on pc when on xbox i have a small latence... i didn t notice it because i was playing only xbox at that time... but since im pc it's day and night. Even with a controler.
Also the fact sea of thieves running at 80 fps change my world of playing. So much easier to aim a pirate, when he turn around u don't lose him. U know he went left or right . But xbox in close range when a players turn around u, it sometime like he desapear in front of u.
The funny thing is every pc player i meet in the game admit they go a clear advantage here, but in the forum they just pretend every thing is the same. Be on pc or xbox with a controler even is not the same... so with a mousse...
Pc players on this forum who pretend its the same are.... or very bad pc player's .... or love to much the fact to have easy target , make they think they are good... Or they realy believe they are good when they got a huge advantage... and it's actualy easy to know who play pc... they can tchat sentences and they do all the time. You have no actual idea if they were PC or not. You got your butt handed to you, so you assume the natural excuse.
Losing all the treasure after a 4 hour grind? Your own fault. I'm sure there were multiple outposts you had sailed by that you could have sold at.You got pirated in a pirate game. Welcome to Sea of Theives. Next time, perhaps sell a little more often to mitigate the losses when you are sunk again?

If you are going to hoard 50 chests, you deserve what you get when you are sunk and lose it, as you would have had ,multiple opportunities to sell. Complaining about being pirated in a pirate game after that is pathetic.
Since when is that fact advocating for Streamers to take over servers, or even agreeing that such a strategy is acceptable? Oh, right......it isn't.
On top of that, you honestly think some players don't align and take over full servers and that it's just Twitch streamers? Think again.

I wish there was an option on Xbox to favor frame rate over resolution. I mainly play w/ guys on PC, and I [mod edit] you not they can do a full turn w/o it even registering on my screen. I assume that is due to 30fps on xbox, or could it be a connection issue? Either way it makes cqb's very difficult to win when you can't see the enemy.

All possible with the Elite controller; it's an entirely different animal and well worth the cost if you're the kind of player who likes controllers.
If you like mouse and keyboard then more power too ya, but the present game even among X-box platforms is not equal.
Get an SSD and you have faster load times.
Get the Elite controller and you have 10X the mobility / agility in combat and in the ability to button re-map.Get the X-box enhanced and you have far better graphics and better load times by default than the standard old X-box.
Additionally for those X-box players that want Mouse and Keyboard; guess what's coming soon? You guessed it, mouse and keyboard support.
After that, the players who're still getting wrecked by better players will continue to state that its PC players beating them, but 95% of the time it's just a better player on an X-box.
@swimplatypus7 why I should buy a faulty elite controller? It costs the same as xim apex. Brilliant m+k adapter. Elite is a waste of time. I broke 2 in 3 years, regret to buy 1st one. Shame on me for buying a second. NEVER BUY ELITE, BUY XIM. Best solution out there,
@swimplatypus7 The elite controller allows you to remap existing buttons not add additional ones and any use of third party hardware will get you banned for breaking the Xbox TOS. Also an elite controller is exactly the same as a normal controller minus the paddles on the back, you are still restricted to using your thumbs on joysticks to aim rather than your arm on a mouse. There’s still no comparison.
Also your basically saying to get the game more balanced I should have to spend money on an SSD and an elite controller or M&K...
That’s an insane suggestion, why should I be forced to pay almost 3 times the price of the game if not more just so I can play on a even playing field, which even then is not guaranteed.I personally think it’s up to the developers to balance the game so all players are on a close to equal footing as possible. No one should have to pay additional money for a fair game.

Under the Xbox Code of Conduct, Terms of Use and Services Agreements, it is not permitted to tamper with the game or services in any un-authorised way, whether that is via Hardware such as Mouse and Keyboard or 3rd party software that emulates Macro functionality. As such, accounts can be terminated if found to be doing it.
