Heyo, going to keep this short.
Been new to the game and have been playing alot with my friends, and was wondering if I can see my playtime?
I usually play games on steam where I pretty much get reminded every time before I click to start playing as it is right above the button. So I got curious about my play time on SoT, is there any way to view it?
Any way to see my play time on PC?
@vcamy Ahoy matey!
Actual play time is currently not a stat you can see, there was a recent 2018 web app released by Microsoft but this only seemed to track actual Xbox play time and not PC.
Hopefully one day we will be more accurately be able to track our in game play time!
@gosetsu • It's only as accurate as the Last Major Update.
For example my own states 00:00:00., despite having played late Friday for a good 6-7hrs as there was an Update for my particular Insider (Next-Release) version of Windows 10.•
Now beyond this., while Microsoft themselves only track Xbox One Hours (which not accurately might I add, as it includes Application Stand-By Time when you don't "Quit" an Application but merely go back to Dashboard... apparently I've played 114hrs of Final Fantasy XV., when in reality I've never played it on my Xbox and only played it on PC; but my Brother had played it with a habit of leaving Apps in Stand-By)
This doesn't mean that Rare themselves doesn't track Player Metrics.
In fact I'd been quite surprised if they didn't track Player Time In-Game... and the thing is they're capable of displaying anything they want to in terms of "Tracked Metrics" in regards to what you see on the Achievement Tracker System.Hence why we can see how many Miles we've Sailed or such.
What they have on there right now are just weird Metrics to Track., that are fairly meaningless... like why is "Islands Visited" as a Leaderboard Statistic; while "Time Played" isn't?While sure, Microsoft is slowly adding things like this as Default Statistics., there's nothing that I can think stopping Rare from adding such themselves from their own Metric; unless of course it's simply something they don't track., which would be odd.
I mean it's a fundamental Metric to gauge player engagement, to see not only how often they log-on but how long their gaming sessions are... plus compare said sessions between Expansions, to see if what was added was more / less engaging, etc.
It's not a perfect measure of such, but it's a good starting point to then cater experiences going forward or just see a general sense of Positive or Negative in regards to the various types of Gamers.
