HUD Like Green Circle On Screen, Any Idea How to Remove?

  • I'm a PC Player, and From the second I turn my game on I have a large green circle on the right side of my screen, even during the intro video. Does anyone know what it is or how to remove it? My friends don't have it in their game. I've messed with the Xbox app and SOT settings and cannot figure out what it is. Here's a screen shot: https://imgur.com/a/JAw6V7z

  • Without starting the whole debate over whether or not there is a level playing field between PC and Xbox, but that looks to me to be part of you sound card software which puts a visual aid to help with sound direction.

  • @orbitalbinkie well that didn't take long, we'll done for looking to hijack another thread.

The guy was looking for support, not to have a debate. You are really on one today. Get good, I swear to god if I do come across you I will happily swap over to my Xbox, film myself sending you to the Ferryman then watch the endless threads of "I lost to a PC player"

  • @sshamm if you need any further help regarding the software DM me and I'll be happy to help.

    PC bros for life.

  • @sshamm
Could try checking for driver updates for your Graphics card. Does the spot display while not in game? How about other games?

  • @badassfro You brought it up, heh. And so angry, lol.

Shouldn't you be busy streaming with other pc players too?

    PC bros for life.

My drivers are up to date on everything on my PC, and this only comes up with this game. So that's why this thing is making me go crazy. I want it to look clean. It is still there with the "HUD OFF."

  • @sshamm yeah unfortunately it doesn't have anything to do with the game settings. If you check your system tray (the icons in the bottom right), there will be on in there from the makers of your sound card/motherboard (for instance for me it is called "Sonic Studio 3", others I know about are Sound Blaster's.

The reason it will only be appearing for SoT is some of them have game detection, where it will detect you are in a game and active only then.

The best way to confirm that it is the "sound radar" I think it is, does it provide any feedback when you are around in game sounds (Skelly's shooting for instance) if not then its not what I think it is.

  • @nabberwar This only shows up on this game, and even with the HUD "off". As for my sound card, idk if that's doing it because this is only with this game. I don't use my motherboard's audio either. I have a sound board with XLR mic and headphones.

  • That is definitely sounding like the "sound radar" I think it is. That being said, do you have teamspeak installed? as during the install of that it tends to install a piece of software called "Overwolf" - I don't use Overwolf myself so cannot comment on how it should appear.

The "Hud" settings in the game will not affect it, unfortunately it has nothing to do with SoT

  • @badassfro I'll take a look at my motherboards different features and see if it has anything like that. Let me turn these chests in and see what's up. Thanks.

  • @sshamm lol didn't realise you were playing, Good lad.

Take your time, I'm heading home from work so might see you on later.

  • @badassfro Looking through my software on my PC and features of my motherboard I have nothing that should put an audio radar on any game....and that green circle does nothing reference audio actions happening in the game. No lights or flashes happen while playing.

This is a pretty fresh PC build and I don't use software of that sort. I thought it was on everyone's game until I saw some SOT YouTube videos and Twitch streams.

  • @badassfro On TS3, no it's not installed. I only have Discord with the Overlay off.

  • @sshamm, someone in this thread on Steam posted a similar overlay:

And followed up with a post saying they found it - ASUS Sonic Radar

  • @d3adst1ck I've checked my programs on my PC and I have no Asus programs, or anything listed with the name "sonic." I wonder if there are any other programs that have that feature. Oddly enough my latest PC has 0 Asus products, which is strange because I normally buy their products.

  • @sshamm Its possible that it may be installed as a Windows App through the Microsoft Store which may not list it in the Programs & Features list.

For example, Sea of Thieves does not show up in my legacy "Programs and Features" list under Control Panel, but does show up under the "Apps & Features" Win10 version and under the store list of installed apps.

EDIT: Also, according to this reddit thread it may be called "Nahimic 2"

  • @sshamm could also be MSI radar. "Nahimic" or something like that. either in programs or some MSI app's settings.

  • @sir-lotus Found it and yes, its freaking OFF!~ It didn't work anyway because I was using my sound through the soundboard anyway. Thanks again to EVERYONE who helped out and chimed in. Case closed here, nothing more to see haha
