Solo Player hard to fight NPC ships (I have a Idea)

  • Ok so I love playing by my self. I have been playing SoT for almost 2 years. I started getting wrecked by the Skeleton Ships and I have killed a few and get killed more due to the fact that they don't miss and that i spend more time below deck fixing the ship then Driving or shooting back at them. So I have Idea and I know people will think this is dumb but hear me out.

I think it might be cool since the Skeletons on the NPC ship can heal there ship but they can't bail the water out why not let a solo player on a sloop be able to hire a NPC crew mate that does the same thing. All they do is repair the ship and they don't bail. They don't help in any other way except giving a solo sailer a chance to shoot and drive and when they are not doing those 2 things they can bail water. if you don't have enough planks the NPC will not be able to fix the ship.

If they can make skeletons do it why not give us a NPC crew mate to do the same. Just a idea. I hope everyone has a great and happy New Year and see you on the sea

  • If you watch all those videos, rare has published about this game, you should recognize that bringing people together is a main focus of the game. Therefore, a helping NPC is nothing but the opposite of it.

u play for 2 years and have a hard time on skelly ships? U didnt do them in those 2 years?

If u know what u do and how to sail. (Kinda expect u should be above average on these sailing skills since u are in 2 years, so we are not going there)
So again if u know how to sail u can get next to them without them EVER firing 1 shot at u. U crash in or had a hole all ready keep it in the bottom and bucket in your water.

U make sure u shoot 1 cannonball to make the commendation track it if u sink it.

And to top it off. U can solo the skelly ship waves even with a fresh started ship. 15 planks,. 15 banana, 45 cannonball.

Dont need NPC's, we need EXP. (some of us)

2 Years?! Wow the game hasn't even been out for 1 yet! Time Travel Confirmed!

Don't fix, just bail and you'll be fine. They can't hit both sides of your ship so you only get 5 holes max and most at the higher deck.

So I have Idea and I know people will think this is dumb but hear me out.

No, bad Idea No no no. Honestly just get a friend, go outside make one go be social!

I'll give you a reason why not: It's a Multiplayer Co-Op game. You either become a social butterfly or keep going solo where solo means solo not together with the computer.

  • adding skeleton sloops for world rather than just the skeleton ship fort can be helpful for this situation

  • Love the idea. So good,

P.s. SoT is only 1 year old if u include Bata, Skelly ships are an update around NZ winter time.
    Correct me if I'm wrong

  • Best way I've found to battle skellie ships as a solo slooper is to tuck your ship close to a large island, preferably one with cover on three sides. The skellies will follow you in, and you might get hammered a bit initially. But then they'll start to circle the island. That will give you time to repair, bail and resupply. If the island has cannons, all the better. You can use those to harass the skellies when they're on the far side. Otherwise simply wait for the skellie ship to come around. Keep your anchor up and set the wheel to a slow turn to keep the skellies in range of your cannons. You should be able to get off plenty of clean waterline shots that way. It might take a few passes, but you'll succeed in the end.

  • I try to catch a skellie on the boat but nothing works.. thought blow them of a cliff onto the boat and stuff but i fear its not possible :(

  • @hynieth @Kravn-Moor-Heed The guy joined these forums 3 years ago. There were folks who played the alpha, so... there ya go.

@x30nstillgaming As for the NPC idea... nope. Solo play is hard, it is meant to be hard, they don’t need to make it easy.

  • I’ve also flirted with this idea. Thinking it could be useful. But that’s such a huuyuge game changer that idk if it’s such a good idea.

Hello Sir, when i play Solo Sloop and get attacked by a Skeleton Ship, i lower my sail to approximately 25 percent ,set a course i wich i ,hopefully , can't hit islands nor rocks and start shooting their ship...From the moment one cannonball hits me , i repair as fast as i can...Skeleton Ships do miss some shots , they aren't perfect, just like humans aren't ...From the moment the sloop is repaired i start shooting again...
i admit that it takes a lot longer than with two or more people but taking a Skeleton Ship down, is really mentally rewarding when you hear that gong sound...

Now , to be totally fair with you , if you could watch in the Rare Fan Ledger of Rare Headquarters ,then you will find my name on number one in the " Worst player section" accompanied with a picture of mine ( * What ? Your picture in that Ledger ? Is that a horror book they are making over there?)...i'm really not a great player when it comes to Pvp and shipbattles, but since i prioritise the repair of my ship , i have been able to take down a lot of Skeleton Ships...With Skeleton Ships i mean the ones that raom free around the world, not those from under the Ship Cloud...i fear i will never be able to beat a Skelly Fleet on my own, but those endeavours i rather take on in the company of my usual crew...

So , without being offensive or humiliating, i don't support the introduction of NPC crewmembers , Sea Of Thieves is a lively world , populated by it's players and all their diversities...Bringing in NPC crewmember would make my crew feel " dead" if that makes sense...i have become a social being in and thanks to this game and have a heartless , spineless, and emotionless counterpart in this game would kill a lot of immersement, joy and comraderiefeel i get from playing with real people...

  • @weakdexx lol

  • @kravn-moor-heed I have been playing the game since Feb 1 2017. Which will be 2 years. You are correct the game came out less then a year. And the ships came out a few mounts ago.

  • @clumsy-george I know the tales from you good sir. I appreciate the tips. I don’t really have that much of a problem. I was making a post to interact with the forums. During battle I win some and lose some while playing solo. I just wanted to make conversation.

  • @bran-the-ent I appreciate your feed back.
