For anyone that does not know, the megalodon might, when attacking the ship, drop either a portion or all of your loot on the ship. My crew and I are not 100% positive about what happened, but I'll tell the story and you can judge yourself.
My friends and I were doing the Christmas special where you get 8 quests of some sort (whether it's chests, skulls, or the merchants). In our case, we were doing the 8 quests for the skulls in a galleon, as well as having a rowboat on the back, and we typically visit 2-4 islands then sell our loot so that we don't lose more than half of our loot due to other pirates. When we finishing out fourth island in one run, which means we had 16 skulls (and a gem from a mermaid we found), we were heading to an outpost and ran into a megalodon. Specifically, the ShadowMaw Megalodon. The megalodon attacked us while we didn't know about it, and we went a small distance before stopping. We decided to attack it since we had quite a lot of resources. While we were fighting the shark, one of my friends thought that he dropped a skull, since there was a glowing green light in the distance(We have never fought a megalodon before, so we didn't know that it dropped all the loot on death, not continually). We decided that it was too far away to retrieve, since it was (at least seemed like) only one skull. However, once we reached the outposts, all of the skulls that were stored in the captain's quarters were gone (all 16 of them), as well as our rowboat. We went back to see if our rowboat and/or skulls were there, but there was nothing to be seen. We got so mad about that we just left the game and played something else. We suspect that the Megalodon drops all the loot on your ship at once, however my friend stated that he only saw on glow, which is why we are currently confused.
Note that this is what happened, but it could be could be a bug, or it could be a feature. I looked on the Sea of Thieves website to see if there was anything about this under the info about the Megalodon, but did not find anything about it dropping loot from ships.
I would like to know if anyone else has had this issue, or if we just don't know something about the game.
