Yes i have tried enabling my microphone on windows settings that does not work the guide that moderators always give me does not do anything it is not my headset i have tried different headsets and have also tried the same headsets my friends have that can actually hear other crews. I have changed and messed around with my settings for hours to match my friends but that doesn't work either. All I want right now is for someone to actually help me and not give me that same link that i always get. Thanks.
Cannot hear other crews in game
here are the settings that I could find right now:
just check if you missed any of those.- windows 10 app settings: Sea of Thieves
- make sure it has access to your mic and background apps
- if the game has no access to your mic, then voicechat is disabled both ways
- windows 10 app settings: Xbox
- make sure it has access to your mic and background apps
- within the xbox app itself, enable access to your mic
- also make sure to select the correct input/output device (your headset)
- before you start SoT go to your windows sound control panel
- your headset needs to be set as default device
- note: switching to the output device via taskbar-icon does not change the default device
- it is possible to have game sounds on your headset and the crewchat can still be on the active default device
- within SoT check your sound settings
- crew chat output should be set to headset
- you might also want to set it to directional
- check the crew chat output volume
- within SoT check your crewsettings
- other crews - and make sure its not muted
sidenote:
- if you are in xbox party chat, then there can be problems with ingame voice
(although I have mostly heard of xbox players having that problem)
edit:
make sure to also check your Microsoft account privacy settings. =)Have tried this one?
1 - right-click your speaker icon and click "Sounds"
2 - hit the "Communications" tab
3 - make sure the setting checked is "Do Nothing".I had that problem before after an update where it muted all sound and I bet in-game chat doesn't count as communication to that setting.
Can you hear your friends or is all communication muted?
@irhcsajr That was just a dumb comment.
Anyway @tinneyboii you can't hear them at all or are they low? - from my own experiance in-game voicechat is really REALLY low sometimes.
Hope the ones who answered you about this problems helps you out.On console i had to change console settings for this game and put mic to 100% and ingame too then i can hear them normal -.- but still its not really good with some players.. a lot of bad sound and some echo and playing with people on the other side of the globe -.- delays.. i often get tired and switch to using premade text

I recently experienced the same issue. I play on pc and could not hear in game chat it was very strange and frustrating. After some time I tried switching the in game chat sound from headset to speakers and it started working normally even though I’m using a headset. But whatevs it’s working now as intended. It might help
