Skeleton Fortress - Raid Difficulty

  • As players become more experienced, they might find the skull fortress raids to be a bit too easy, to the point that they're boring and perhaps not rewarding enough, so after a bit of a discussion on the official discord server, some other players and I came up with a suggestion for the fortress raids:

Cursed Fortress - A raid that is more difficult than the normal raids. Perhaps skeletons could have more health, deal more damage and possibly spawn in larger numbers or come in more waves than normal raids. Another suggestion for it was that the skeletons on the fort could fire cursed cannonballs. The reward for this kind of raid should also be higher than normal raids, of course. I thought this increased difficulty raid could be marked with a red skull cloud or something to easily tell them apart from normal raids.

  • @magdown How about an “ashen skull fort” placed somewhere within the Devil’s Roar? It could be built upon a volcanic island, with all the usual hazards that entails, along with the ideas already mentioned. Bigger challenge, bigger rewards.

  • @genuine-heather That sounds like a good idea too. Both ideas could even exist at the same time, so that it's constantly the higher difficulty in Devil's Roar, but also a chance to find a higher difficulty raid in a normal fort.

  • @magdown Cursed cannon balls really wouldn't make a difference. If the helmsman picks a blind spot to set anchor one can get in without getting hit. And even with the newly opened fortresses there are quite a few blind spots to exploit. Another thing, crew members can shoot themselves to shore and wipe out the cannons.

  • @tenableclown15 It's only a suggestion, and either way it would be slightly harder than if they just fire normal cannonballs.

  • That would be so great. The forts need to give some better rewards and present a greater challenge. Another thing is to add new enemies, I personally enjoy the new Bomb Skellies but I feel they should add more. It tends to get boring and repetitive and it doesn't seem to be motivating players to complete them.
