Hi, why should I choose pistol instead of sniper? It has less damage and range, and reload time is the same of sniper. I think pistol needs a reason to play with it. Maybe more movement when aim?
Pistol vs Sniper (Merry Xmas!)
@pit86p The problem with the sniper is that there is no reason not to use it. The main problem is that the damage curve is constant no matter the distance, so it is just as effective as the pistol in CQB, while out-gunning it at range. What they really need to do is reduce the damage of the sniper at close quarters so that it is less than the pistol (maybe it takes 33% of your health at close range instead of the pistols 50%). It is meant to be a long range weapon and should be chosen for long range engagements - not so I can get double gunned and die in less than a second at close range.

The sniper damage curve varies depending on the distance (far = less damage)
Nope, I don’t think so. I’ve gotten hit at long range and it does the same damage.

Sniper rifle should reload slower than pistol imo as maybe pistol should have 6 shots instead of 5 to be more useful. Damage should not be changed.
I agree with this.
@genuine-heather Never wondered why skeleton don't die at the first 2 shots when you tried to get them down from so far away?
I had a different experience with PvP also.

Not all skeletons are created equal. Some are tougher than others, especially on higher level voyages. Range doesn't matter.
@genuine-heather Sorry I was taking the example of tower skellies who, if I recall correctly, aren't affected by Athena Voyages or any other voyage level.
These same skellies (it takes sometimes 5 or 6 shots in a row to take them down from far away) are actually easy to kill with a sword with and a 3 hit move whereas as mentionned in comas, it can somtimes take 5 to 6 sniper shots from far away ...
I also 100% confirm that I had 3+ hitmarks before achieving a frag on PvP by shooting from far away and have experienced lower damage on my character when being shot from a distance..
So... i'm really confused here..

Currently reload speed is faster then EoR. Right now pistol is viable as a strategy with running Sword + Pistol and Pistol + EoR. Pistol + Sword can be viable if you can hit two consecutive shots before a banana is consumed. That and pistol is a great finisher on low health targets. Their is also the Sword lunge reset and Pistol shot combo. Deadly within its own rights.
I would personally rather see some work done on Blunderbuss. Right now its state is sad. Very few niche moments it excels at. Right now though EoR is in an excellent state, their is very few reason to switch off it. If weapons were tiered EoR would be levels above all the others.

While I agree with what is said here I do think that the Blunderbuss is "fun" because of it's strange behavior :
- It has a very wide spread shot.
- It's the only weapon that can kill a full life player in 1 shot (somehow)
- It has can bump people off the boat really well.
@dotcomrobots
I'm more arguing a practical sense, although the randomness has some appealing to a certain crowd. It has a very wide spread shot.
Not a good thing in the slightest. Anything beyond point blank range is unreliable and inconsistent.

One of the very few niche things, but even this is inconsistent.
It has can bump people off the boat really well.
This trait is shared by nearly all weapons in some way. Rifle has knock back at close range, while pistol and sword (any weapon really) knocks people off ladders.
It is much easier to make a list of what it can do vs can't. "Can" is a very short list, while "Can't" is a very long list. Unfortunately, Blunderbuss is a tricky thing to balance, too strong and we go back to pre nerf conditions. Not a good thing.
