The Stranded Pirate

  • Been a while since I’ve posted anything and yesterday’s adventures seemed worthy of a thread. I’m sure my words will not express how cool the adventures of the day turned out to be. The best part, as usual, was the crew I sailed with rather than the actual adventure.

I was off yesterday and jumped in after my chores were done for some solo sloop action. I didn’t even open the X-Box app to see if anyone was on. While gathering supplies to support a solo fort attempt, I get an invite from one of my crew with whom sailing is always a blast and full of laughs. He and another regular crewmate were on a brig and asked me to join. I do, of course.

A fort was up as we spawned in and the plan was to attempt it. Our crewmate had some dad responsibilities and stepped away briefly while the captain and I hit Sunken Grove to gather additional supplies on the way to the fort.

Before I even launched myself from the ship, I see the telltale glow of a Villainous on the small island on the west side of the main island. I saber dash towards it. As I get there, there’s another pirate in the water swimming towards the skulls. I asked if they were his and he said “aye, they be mine.” He then offered to give them to us because he didn’t know where his crew and ship were. We declined and said we were only there for supplies.

This random pirate ends up joining us and we defeated the fort together. Or non-crew crewmate stayed aboard to repair as needed and act as our sniper. All the while, he’s trying to communicate with his crew of randoms in an attempt to get them to sail towards us and form an alliance. No dice.

After the fort, we head to an outpost and split some loot. Our non-crew crewmate sold his skulls and reluctantly took some of the loot from the fort. We thanked him, made friends and made an agreement to meet up later in the evening.

    Later in the evening…..

We join up again and start a galleon. This time, the non-crew crewmate is a part of the crew. He said he needed the skellie ship commendations and there just so happened to be the ship cloud in the sky. We set about gathering the supplies before heading off for battle.

With many powder kegs and a fairly decent amount of supplies, we set sail. Two of the skellie ships pop up with one on either side. While the crew blasts one with cannon, I board the other with a keg. Things were going well until another galleon arrived. That’s when it became really funny as the captain ship was already up. There was just something comical about it all and we were really enjoying the fight.

We fought both ships until we were nearly out of cannon balls. Every trip aboard another ship meant grabbing the needed supplies and doing whatever damage we could manage. However, the other galleon was able to sink us even though we know they took significant damage. Oh, well. We tried.

We spawned not too far away from the fight and immediately set sail towards it. The crew took turns firing themselves onto the various islands on the way to gather whatever was available. As we approach and the music starts, we don’t see the other galleon. Did they sink? Were they hiding? Like I said, we knew we had put a hurtin’ on them. Maybe they did sink.

No matter, the captain ship was still up and heading our way. We load our cannon and give them a full broadside. And that was all she wrote. The captain ship sank after four shots and we were stunned. We laughed while collecting the loot floating nearby.

We cashed in and set out for more, but were bested by a two man sloop that seemed impossible to kill or sink. It was strange. Once we were defeated, we called it a night as it was late and we are working pirates after all.

Good haul and many laughs were shared. All with a random pirate we discovered alone on an island.

By the way, it would be cool if we could form an alliance with a pirate even without his or her ship. Maybe a gesture similar to making friends. I don’t know if it’s worth the effort or would happen often enough to justify.
