PL 10 and while I was very excited for the update to be giving new stuff to do as a pirate legend I am extremely disappointed that the new commendations are the same as just starting from day one new player. I have done the endless 4am grinding for my titles and having to do it all again just to unlock some cosmetics has made me not want to play the game anymore. In your developer update you said it's pretty much starting at 0 and you guys don't have a record of that data to update everyone who has already accomplished these commendations. Uh, yes you do. The recorded data is in my titles. I have to turn in an X amount of chest of legends to become level 10 that's saved data that should have been put towards my commendations. I get the other as you are not keeping track of how many chest and skulls I turn in but you are keeping track of my skills forts. There are several unlocked achievements telling me you know exactly what we have done in the game but just made it easier on yourself by not putting those towards our already hard work in this game. I wanted new stuff to do. At this point I should just create a new pirate character and start all over because that's exactly what this feels like. That all my time and grinding into your game has been wiped clear with this update. So as a everyday player I find myself moving on to other games because who wants to have to start all over after all your hard work. Would you like all your servers to be shut down and erased and you guys have to rebuild the game? Heck no you wouldn't.... That's what you have done for us pirate legend 10's.

@ioiiygagger I'm not a pirate legend myself but I can understand that after grinding certain commedations you don't want to have to do them again. Especially things like turning in chests which you've probably done like multiple times over.
@ioiiygagger I'm Athena 9, but I don't feel the way you feel at all. Did you honestly expect to be able to log on, reap the rewards and log back off? How is having to start from scratch the exact same thing as this is? You've gotten your new goals: Unlockable cosmetics by playing the game.
I really don't see the big deal.
@ioiiygagger I feel the same you do. I DID ALREADY the big grind for Athena 10. I would love to do another reputation 1 to 10 but with new and different quest type. Not doing another 100 athena chests just for achievements because I Already DID !
Actually I hope that developer would find a fix for this or me and many other people will stop playing I guess. That's very frustrating, after all is a game and should be fun not punishing@IoIIygagger I get it. It's frustrating. We all wanted something NEW to do, and Rare missed the mark there. However, at the same time, they gave us exactly what they said they would - new PL exclusive commendations and cosmetics.
I have full confidence that some time in the future Rare will add new things to do after Athena 10, but right now it isn't the core part of the game that they are working so hard to improve for new comers. Like others have said, take a break for a while and come back when you can enjoy the game again. You made it to Athena 10 because you LOVED the game the way it was. That took dedication and I commend you for that. Maybe a break is much needed. Go find some enjoyment in another game, and then maybe you'll remember what kept you playing this one for so long.

Hello Ioiiygaggar, the fact you got "burnt" by Sea of Thieves isn't the new Commandations , nor the not recording of those Commandations in the past by Rare ...You gave the reason for your " burning up" yourself in one word : " Grind"...
That word is a side effect coming from other games ....i can really believe one start grinding if he or she is short on Bilgerat money , to buy the time limited cosmetics. But Grinding in order to get some titles ...Well, sorry ...i will try to explain as good as possible because it's these kind of conversations that make me realize i'm still very limited in thy beautiful language...Grinding is working, slugging , crawling in a muddy trench ...You don't enjoy the game anymore , you are focussed on one goal and everything else needs to step away in order to achieve whatever you are grinding for.
In Sea of Thieves , This is the Demon that spoils and destroys it all , for each and everyone..." Did you never grind then , oh pompous old moron" ,i hear you say ( * Oooh, i heard it too , and she is very smart since she called you by your real asset, being a moron, hihihihi). Yes , i have grind too , my last two Order of the Soul levels i have grinded in order to become Legend , and in those few days ,my joy for this game took a dive like a crashing plane...
This game is so much more than " achieving" ...i mean it , my biggest joy of this game is take new Pirates at the Sea , teach them the game while goofing around and pressing on their Heart that there are no two adventures that will ever be the same ...
If you think that SOT is solely based upon Treasure and Commandation gathering , then you never played this game with an Open Heart...
i am no Pirate Legend Level 10, in fact ,nowadays i don't do much Athena's , i just jump in the Sea and sail wherever i want to sail...i'm free again of Levelling and joy ,adventure and possible new Friendships are the things i pursue..."Will you never want to get Pirate Legend 10 then, old man?" i hear you say. Well, Miss , it will happen one day but i really don't care if it will be tomorrow or next year because the Bilge Rat money on those Commandations are there to stay ,so i'm in totally no hurry to become Level 10.
On the Contrary, i feel totally Free, do what i want to do, help who stands open for help and just simply enjoy , and therefor love SOT ,without feeling pressed to achieve one thing...." Does that mean you don't care for Bilge Rat money, old nag ?" i hear you say again...i only gather Bilge Rat money when i unknowingly triggered a Commandation, i also use only Bilge Rat money for buying cosmetics, i don't use the money to level up nor for swapping for real money....
This is the first game ever that i have played for this long, Alpha's included , and still i don't feel that i need to sail to achieve something....In total honesty , i'm glad i got rid off those Levels after becoming Legend , and Level 10 Legend , don't interest me one zip of spit...
Feeling and Bringing Joy to others have become priority number one. i need to quit SOT with a smile upon my face and so need the others that i have met on the Sea as well. If that is the case then my evening/night cannot ended better...
But the day i start grinding, and choring or better digital working upon the Sea ,will be the last days that i play this game...If you have tasted "Freedom" in a game ,then you never want to abandon this game ....
Grinding , is something that came from other games , and most games are copies or have elements of games that go so many years back in time...Us Gamers , look all a bit like me, we all have crooked backs because we are misshapen by repeatedly replaying the same game ingredienst over and over again ,poured in a different fanchise with a different name...
Rare is trying to make games different but this Master Piece has come too late for a lot of people...Some find Levels, statistics like Kill/ Death ratio more important than just have a good night of scalliwagging fun...
Seriously , Miss , just play with yer Heart instead of with yer Mind, try it for one evening, oh not for my beautiful eyes ( * Whahaaahaaa " his beautiful eyes" Oi, Gutter Writer , you're as crosseyed as the Lion from Daktari - Daktari, Sunshine , really? that's ancient * So , what , you're ancient too, Captain Tearface ) but for yourself....For one evening, or playsession , just don't think on Commandations or Bilge Rat money , just play , enjoy the Sea and yer company you're in and you will see that the Commandation Counter will have risen without you had to do an effort or felt grinding...Grinding, is toxic , it's a Poison that slowly kills yer fun on this game, any game ...
May the Wind be in yer favour ,Oh Mighty Legend , but don't forget that Joy has to be your Crewmember , or Sir Grind will drop yer anchor soon...Forever.
@murkrage "log on reap the rewards and log off"? Um... No. Just as I have done with every bilge eat event I have logged on and played for days on unlocking commendations. I didn't expect to log on and start looking through and realize everything that I needed to unlock was everything I have already done. You said your level 9 ATHENA but didn't say if you were legend or not. Even so at 9 your still not done. There is many more Athenas to go before achieving level 10. So doing ATHENAS is beneficial for you still at this point. I was hoping for more of a new voyage to level up in not the same voyages I have already done. I did not use my doubloons to level up. I didn't expect anything to be handed to me as I have always played hard to unlock my achievements. So sorry if you don't see the problem but I'm not the only legend who understands and is in agreement. I play with a lot of other PL 10 who showed the same excitement I did in getting new stuff to do as a PL and was extremely disappointed also seeing it's not new.... It's what we have already done.
@ioiiygagger You know, no one is forcing you to do it? You can just do what you enjoy doing in the game.
@marsmayflower I do actually. Since I didn't do Athenas until I was legend I have turned in 930 chest since becoming pirate legend. It's math on the amount of Athenas you need to hit 10 and 10 chest per Athena voyage Needing 93 Athena voyages to hit L10. That's saved data. In the process of unlocking achievements and leveling up in reputation all that data is saved. Everything else after I see as being lost unsaved data.
@ioiiygagger Thing is, Rare probably didn't save datetime for each chest turned in so there is no way to know if you turned those chests in after you hit legend. They probably don't record each chest as an individual row but were just adding one to targeted fields. For a complete metric, they would need to record every single chest transaction which would be a whole lot more data to store (and pay for).
I understand you feeling that way. And no one can tell you that you shouldn't feel the way that you do. It is a shame that they didn't track this data beforehand.
Here's the only thing I can offer you (I'm a PL 8, so I've done a lot of this as well, but also still have a bulk to do with those last two Athena's levels):
They do not have accurate data on how many chests and skulls you've turned in as a PL, nor with how many Legendary Chests you've turned in. Regardless of what your true experiences have been - there's, apparently, no way to determine when you turned these things in, whether you benefitted from Alliances during your climb, or whether you earned Athena Rep from the Ashen's Athena's Voyages. There is also no way to track how many chests and skulls you may have lost (or not bothered to fully dig/fetch/deliver) during your Athena's Voyages.
Just because we have X level in our Athena's Reputations doesn't mean we turned in 8 skulls and 10 chests and one Legendary Chest 93 times. There are a number of other variables... and it does suck that they weren't tracking these things and hadn't implemented these commendations before players had already achieved them.Not quite as bad, perhaps, but the same goes for some of the other new commendations (especially the Ship Captain chests and skulls... I did every damn fleet in Cursed Sails and was one of the few pirates consistently sinking them AFTER the event, and turned in so many of those skulls and chests... but I must do it all again to earn that Bone Crusher stuff). I'm not too concerned about it, personally, and I'll accomplish the commendations at some point. It's not that important to me.
I get the disappointing feeling... and if it has hit you hard, at the moment... I hope, maybe, after taking a step back, you may find interest and joy in returning.
