Beginner:
⦁ (Sloop) It takes 10 seconds to climb up to the crow's nest from the bottom of the ladder; it takes 3.5 seconds to slide down from it.
⦁ (Brigantine) It takes 12.5 seconds to climb up to the crow's nest from the bottom of the ladder; it takes 4.5 seconds to slide down from it.
⦁ (Galleon) It takes 15 seconds to climb up to the crow's nest from the bottom of the ladder; it takes 5 seconds to slide down from it.
⦁ Double-tapping F key while on ladder will make you release and catch ladder again.
⦁ To prevent the annoying little slide down a ladder, immediately press W when you grab it.
⦁ To climb down a ladder much faster, press F to release and press F again when you are close to the bottom (timing is important to avoid fall damage).
Intermediate:
⦁ If you are knocked off your ship while it's moving, immediately spam F key and 90% of the time you'll catch your ladder (much harder to do on Sloop).
⦁ (Sloop only) If you look through either side window and aim at the ladder you'll see the promt to grab it. Press F and you'll grab the ladder through the window and find yourself on the outside of your ship.
⦁ (Sloop/Brigantine) Jumping onto your wheel and then jumping to your ladder will allow you to catch it almost at the halfway mark, allowing you to reach the crow's nest quicker.
Advanced:
⦁ You can jump off the crow's nest and aim for the ladder on the outside of your ship and grab it.
⦁ Enemy ladder being guarded? Climb halfway up and double-tap F. There's a 90% chance your enemy will miss their shot and you can climb the rest of the way up while they're reloading.
Note: Enemies that double gun reduce the success of this technique to 20%.
⦁ To disorient your enemy in combat, jump ship and aim to catch the ladder.
Note: Only works when ship isn't moving.
