I know this has probably been talked about in the past and honestly I kinda forgot about this being in the game until I ran across one again yesterday. Do we know what the random skulls laying around with a white key painted on it means? If we do I would like to know and if we don't what do you think it means?
Skulls With Keys
They were part of a contest held during a build of the game before official release I think. People were given a map with clues to find the skulls and they were supposed to help pinpoint a position on the map where treasure was hiding. Apparently everyone in the crew that found the treasure won a sea of thieves xbox.
I may not be completely correct on all that but they were kept in the game after. They don't do anything though. Off the top of my head I know there is one on crooks hollow, discovery ridge, and old faithful. I know I've found at least one more. Just can't remember where.
@testakleze Well that is cool! Thank you for sharing! I wonder if they will use them for anything in the future because I think they are honestly kinda cool and mysterious lol.
@nathanuserectus There was a contest during Gamescom 2017(?).
Can't find the original thread but there were 8 skulls dotted around, a map and they eventually lead people to a sunken ship with loot. The first crew to find and turn in the loot won Sea of Thieves Xbox's.
