I've been sailing the seas at night with a few ole salty dogs for a months now. I was surprised when my 10 year old nephew asked if we could set sail. He hadn't played, so I explained the basics and we opened the ship crew up. A few randoms joined and quite (understood), but one.... a PL10 stayed. We sat on the rocks and watched him fight his first skelly, dig his first treasure, etc. It was awesome! I think he's hooked.
