way to keep cannon balls etc when you log out

  • In my opinion the one hard thing about the game is when you have just spawned in and you don't have many cannon balls or bannanas. There should be a way to save them like a bank at outposts or something

Ahoy there! I've actually heard a few pirates in the wild musing about this, so you're definitely not alone. However, I think this kind of change could really throw off the game's balance. Here's why:

At the moment cursed cannonballs are still pretty common (in my experience just as common as they were during the Cursed Crews event). After doing an Athena (~ a 1.5/2 hour session), it's standard for my crew and I to have at least 25 cursed cannonballs left over. Granted, that's because every time we see an island or barrels 2-3 of us jump ship. Think about what would happen if we could store those across sessions though.

Currently, one of the only downsides to losing your ship (if you don't have treasure) is that you lose any supplies you gathered. Take that away and suddenly a huge combat advantage exists for people who play a lot. You would also have to find a way to prevent crews from abusing the system by bringing their ship to an outpost, storing the supplies in the bank, scuttling, then repeating the process until they had a ridiculous stockpile.

Ultimately, the downtime it takes to gather supplies is the issue here. One way this could be addressed is by fixing the current issue with shipwrecks that was introduced with Barrels 2.0 (I think). Shipwrecks used to be stocked with supplies, but now most of the barrels are empty. If that were to change, stocking up at the outpost and a shipwreck would likely give you enough supplies to work with (especially because it's currently possible to do Skeleton Forts and, if you're careful, Skeleton Ships without the extra supplies).

  • I personally disagree with this idea. It’s interesting! But I feel that it would change the gameplay, and I feel that it wouldn’t be necessary. Collecting supplies is one of the fun things in this game to me, and I feel that taking away the need to do it might be wrong. Thanks for sharing your idea though!
