addition of player camps

  • While playing ark i had a stroke of genuis. Why shouldnt SOT have some kind of player made camps consisting of 2 tents and a small shack for storing supplies. Just like ships setting up camps on any island comes with the same risks as being raided and having everything taken from you. However a defense would be in place letting you use a skelly captains skull on a stone pedestal that summons 10 skellys to defend your camp when non-crew players enter your spot.

To invite random players simply remove the skull and the skellys wont attack unless you either put the skull back or get attacked by the player. A full proof defense since once you acquire the skull its locked to your inventory and cant be dropped even if you die. To implement this would take very little effort for the seasoned coders for SOT since most of this idea uses vanilla game assets that already exist thats 80% of the work done.

Think about it pirates didnt spend 100% of their time on the ocean they did after all have a base sort to speak to go back to every so often.

  • @xurbanranger1x Not saying this is a bad idea, but I don't see a point in having this in the games current state. No, pirates didn't spend all of their time on the ocean, but they didn't post up on uninhabited islands. They would find a pirate friendly port to sell their plunder and spend their earnings. I can't see a use for having camps when there is no point to stay on the island for more than 30 minutes at a time.
Now this feature would be nice if they were to add something that caused you to stay at an island for a lengthy period of time, or an island so massive that it would take a substantial amount of time to do what is needed.

  • @captainkehan you didnt think of all the reason for this. pirates where knwon for hiding thier good and treasures on islands. they wouldnt keep vast wealth all in one place. too easy fo a score. now having storage camps with supply barrels means yo ustock them up and if you die when you come back youll have some stuff to start you off again reducing some of the grind that sometimes is completely unneeded.

  • @xurbanranger1x So you want to try to turn in only half of your items at a time, then have to go back to your camp (which could have been stumbled upon and looted), and then go all the way back to the outpost again? That just adds more of a grind. I can see it as something extra to do or customize, but in terms of keeping loot there or having some other use I just don't see it.

  • @captainkehan i was reffering more to supplies than loot.

  • @xurbanranger1x I had always wished i could set up a camp for a "base of operations" of sorts... can manage alliances and voyages. Courier pigeons and such. Build a campfire and small shelter. Could be fun.
