I'm unaware if this has been noted before, but I'd love for there to be some kind of line you could draw yourself using perhaps the Secondary Use key (RMB) / (LT) as a way to tell the team what path they plan to take. It would be useful but of course not necessary.

It's a good idea, but like you said "it's not necessary". I think (from what another person commented on his feedback), that the game suppose to be in pirate time, where they used only the map and wind to direct them where they need to go, rather than having a line drawn out to the destination that one (or a group) will be going too.
