Idea for a quest/voyage type that involves the instruments

  • I'm envisioning a sort of thing where you have to go to a specific spot on an island and start playing your instrument. Ghostly music notes appear and form a path and only stay out as long as you're playing. You'll want to follow the path and grab all the notes, but you've only got until the end of the song to gather them all up, so you're speed limited and can't use any other movement tools... but having multiple people would help, since you could have some people playing and some people collecting notes and such.

    And at the end of the trail is a treasure chest or some other type of reward or some such.

    It's sort of an extension of that first bilge rat adventure with the Meg, where you had to carry the tune... but on a much smaller scale.

    Though I could see it being expanded to cross to other islands at higher ranks. Which would almost certainly require a crew of some size, just for keeping the song going while also boarding the ship logistics.

    Just the basic outline of an idea, but I thought it good enough to share with you fine folks.

    Carrying the tune could light the path to the next island clue in the riddle and so on until you reach the stash of loot.
    This could also work as an alternative to Athena's (at random).

    As part of the pre-PL climb, it could have the loot value dependent on how many versus / islands / clues the over-all riddle has.

    A spin on it could entail playing a specific tune.
    Playing one tune might take you on a different path than another tune would, even though you're on the same island.

    Maybe even each crewmember has to follow a different tune and coordinate doing some action in sync at different points around the island or something.

    Wow, I never thought of that. It sounds even better.

    Hmm, just thinking, it would be difficult to for your crew to play different tunes at the same time as the game tells the music to sync up.

    Also, sorry, but what of crews with less than 4 members?

  • @admiral-rrrsole Ah good point about the music syncing. Hmm... maybe they play the same tune but multiple paths appear?

    Also I assume the quests would auto-scale to how many crewmates you have, similar to kraken appearances and such.
