Fix the dig locations. Or fix the shovel. This glitch has existed since day 1!

I'm tired of getting chests in areas where the uneven ground can't be dug up. I just spent 5 minutes digging over a chest. I hit the shovel once it hit the chest and revealed it then couldn't dig it up anymore because the shovel just kept digging in the air do to the uneven ground. How has this not been fixed yet this has been a daily problem since the game released. After 5 minutes I get killed by a gunpowder skeleton spawning at my feet because ya that's fair.
