Right now I've taken upon myself to complete every bilge rat commendation in the game, however, the cursed sails campaign commendations are removed and now i can't earn them all. i don't think it is a good idea to remove commendations from the game, because then you can't completely 100% the game, and it really bugs me that i can't earn them all. My proposal to this problem would be to keep around the campaign, so commendations can be earned.
Time Limited Campaigns and Commendations
@tacoslayer1089 I don't really think that there's anything that can be done about it really. The campaigns are usually up for like 3 weeks. That's the whole point of it, they're limited so it encourages you to do them whenever everyone else is. Kind of like with Hungering Deep. If it wasn't limited people would be more inclined to maybe put it off or something. Then you wouldn't be able to do it all because you needed multiple people. Plus they have to end sometime because of the weekly events and future content updates. But Rare did mention that they were going to make older commendations available even after the events so that you can still get the titles, commendations, and doubloons.

They should have kept everything intact so the content could be continued to be enjoyed by new pirates setting sail and old pirates who did not have the time. It would have made the game even fuller. Only the event related cosmetics should be a limited thing.
The skeleton fleet battles found a place to stay. At some point it would be nice to give more life and meaning to the thrones and statues. They should at least re-enabled the doubloons for the past events.
Though some of these events were fun, alone they felt like mini carnival games. The content should have become a more permanent part of the world enriching it and the continuing player experience by having more purpose than a short lived run for some cosmetics.
@x-crowheart-x They have made alot of the campaign content permanent. New instruments, meg, skelly ships, cursed cannon balls, skellys with kegs, and hell forsaken is gonna open up the map even more. I think what may be the problem here is your hoping for a game they are not trying to make. I say this because they've actually addressed keeping commendations available to complete post event and they are going to keep letting us get doubloons for future ones after the fact as well. They have to leave something time sensitive though.
@tacoslayer1089 The cursed sails campaign commendations are still there. I believe that you can't do the campaign itself - it's done, but you can go to the various locations and get the commendations (reading the journals and such)... you just have to use a third party guide to find everything. That's what I heard anyway.
I am absolutely not looking for a game they are not trying to make. I am speaking about the game I already play called Sea of Thieves. There is nothing wrong with making the content they have and are putting in the game be more lasting and have longer meaning.
So much is wasted if the things that were will forever be in the past. The things mentioned that did remain behind is a good thing and I do know that they said things will be different going forward in the future. Do not see why the past needs to be forgotten. Making the rest of the previous content available, even if it became a periodic repeated event, would just make the game even better.
The campaigns are meant to add to the lore of the world and pass like events in the real world.
The game leads us into the campaigns to build a story and a unique experience. With the Cursed Sails and the weeks leading up to the go live date, we got to witness Wanda's decent into madness as she slowly transformed into a skeleton from her own greed. When the event launched we were able to find out exactly why this had happened, and discover that she became Captain Warsmith and brought the other skeleton captains together to challenge the pirates in the Sea of Thieves. This isn't a perpetual thing, the event happened "once" and became a story to tell in the world. It doesn't make a lot of sense for her campaign to be ongoing in a ever changing world with a forward moving timeline.
The only thing I can suggest for a change is to make these events and additions to the lore more integrated into the world itself so new players can understand what happened in-game rather than having to google it when they come across a random journal.

I agree they should feel like real events. As such the history of the events should remain and any player who from their perspective did not witness or experience the event could still do so. Things like hunting the meg could have easily stayed like the skeleton fleet battles.
It would make the world richer having things mean something longer. Definitely better than looking it up to experience it from the perspective of an internet post.
@x-crowheart-x Well... there is experiencing the history of an event and experiencing the event. When the event is over, it's done and all that remains is the history - the lore. Merrick's journals are still around, the various Megs are in the game, as are the cosmetics. The history is there. As with anyone new to an area, asking around is the way to discover the history of a recent event.
@x-crowheart-x while it would be interesting to try and keep things like hunting down the meg, there's no real practical way to go about it. I played through the cursed events and followed the whole campaign. So now things would be different in my world (wanda being a shopkeeper, then skelly) as opposed to another player who hadn't seen that campaign part. Being an open world means they need to keep consistency. At least if you weren't there for it there are parts of the events (and usually the most exciting parts) that can be relived since they are now apart of the world as a whole.

Agree about experiencing the history and lore remaining. Just think there is opportunity for more storytelling and not breadcrumbs that most end up piecing together outside the game.
It is beautiful if the story can be told through the players. However, that will more than likely not be the case for most, especially if cannonballs are flying back and forth.

I do understand. I am not talking about Wanda being around still, that is different. It really does not matter as these things were really quick solutions to a problem. Going forward hopefully it all will be better.

@x-crowheart-x Agreed. It also seems like forsaken shores may have a bit more story element to it than seen so far. Few more days will tell.
I know man looking forward to Forsaken Shores and hoping this will be true. My spouse and I should become Pirate Legend after it drops. It will be very nice if it all comes together.

@tacoslayer1089 The time limited campaign gives the limited rewards..and to some those limited items mean a lot..would be pointless if those limited items stayed in the game..
I agree with you on he items, they should be limited to the 3 weekend. I’m talking about the commendations, they got rid of all but 3 for the cursed sails event

In the list of bilge rat adventures commendations, they took out all but 3 of the commendations you could earn from the cursed sails event
@tacoslayer1089 Yes. The regional battles with the specific crews and all of the commendations associated with them are over. Those moments in SoT history are done - no reason to bring them back. The lore campaign commendations are there. They have said they’ll rotate the time-limited cosmetics back in later on, but haven’t explain how or when.
The only commendations that should’ve also remained are the crew specific ones - since you still face these crews in ship battles.
Players who have already done the time-limited campaigns don’t need their time wasted having them take up weeks more of the game. I was thankful when CS ended and will be happy when CC ends.
