Improve Skeleton Ships

  • The Skeleton Ships are a really cool fight but they could use a bunch of tweaking to make them perfect. Firstly, they need to be nerfed. They have too many Skeletons to repair and shoot cannons, and they respawn way to fast. I've done it while on a Brigantine with an alliance Sloop (both with max players for each) and just a 2 person Sloop and both times it has been way too tough for us to make much progress in a sensible time frame. Especially when most of the time 2 ships spawn. I feel that only 2 ships should spawn if the total amount of players in the area equals or is greater than that of 2 Galleons. Secondly, the loot is so hard to get and not very rewarding. When I was playing with just the 2 person Sloop we took out 2 Skeleton ships and the only reward we got was a Seafarer's Chest (we had seen an Exquisite Spices Crate but I got killed by a shark while I was swimming back to the ship and couldn't find the Crate after I respawned). I think that when a Skeleton ship sinks a chunk of wood planks should spawn on top of the water that has all the treasure that is on the ship sitting on it so that it's easier to spot and gather together. Lastly, why does there need to be multiple waves of the ships spawning? Currently with how though they are it takes a ton of resources to survive just one wave and after seeing the rewards you get from just one wave you don't feel like doing any more. When I was on with just the 2 person Sloop, we ran out of planks completely just as we finished the first wave and we just sailed away as the second wave spawned without the desire to return because we got barley any loot from the first wave, it had taken us an hour to get the supplies that we had started the first wave with and didn't have the time to go and restock and return to continue the fight. I feel that there should only be one wave of Skeleton Ships and the rewards that you get from them should be increased. The rewards don't need to be the same as a Skeleton Fort but they need to be more than one Seafarer's Chest.

I like seeing the cloud in the sky knowing that there is a Skeleton Ship sailing over there that I can go fight. However, I would also like to see that the Skeleton Ships have a chance to spawn around the world just as you are sailing. Just a single ship and not multiple waves of them. Maybe they could also have an increased chance of spawning if you sink a lot of player ships during your session (not like a guaranteed thing after a certain amount of ships just a slight percentage increase of the Skeleton Ship spawning).

The Skeleton Ships should also be made part of the Order of Souls voyages. You should be able to get a voyage to go take out a crew of skeletons and the voyage would tell you something like "Last seen west of Shark Tooth Key" and then you'd go sail over there and would have to take out the ship and return the skull of the captain and maybe some unique items like parts of the ship. These ships would only spawn for the players with this voyage so other's just sailing in that area wouldn't trigger them to spawn just like the current Order of Souls voyages.

I love the concept of Skeleton Ships but in their current form they are not as rewarding or engaging as they could be. Keep up the great work on this amazing game.

I agree on some things, others not so much. I personally feel the difficulty is fine the way it is, but there’re two big things I’ve noticed with the ship battles that should be addressed. 1. The spawn time between the waves of ships, so that way loot is able to be obtained(I thought they fixed or I guess adjusted this in a previous patch and I noticed it at first, but now it seems to be back to the old way.) 2. THIS Is my biggest grief with it lol. My wife and I went to one of the skelly battles in a sloop, after having aligned with a galleon. They sunk the galleon and we proceeded, having taken out 4 ships the final two came up. Having barely any supplies left and the galleon was almost back we went out of the zone for a min or two to meet up with the galleon, as we were both going back a random sloop was also approaching and low and behold the wave had started over...so the 4 ships we took out was for nothing as we couldn’t get the loot from those either because there wasn’t enough time in between before the next ships popped up. Again just in case anybody’s says it we were only out of zone for a mintue or two and we were back in the zone before the sloop made it there.
