Hello everyone! I'm not a legend yet, however I was thinking about what should Rare add to the game for those who already are. My friends and me are not really rushing into getting the legendary status as we are not really looking forward to the Athena's voyages, which are just very long, mixed regular voyages we've been doing since launch. I know Rare is planning to add something to the Legendary portion of the game in the near future, however I think this idea might be a big activity for legends and also a big motivator to reach the legendary status for those who are not legends yet. So I thought one thing that should be added are secret "dungeons", or vaults, hidden across the map, accessible only to legends with the shanty, just like they do in the tavern, I like this mechanic so much and I hope it's going to be used more in the future. In this secret underground areas you would find ghosts of past legends that will fight you like normal players would, with swords and guns, they would look like the ghosts in the Legendary Hideout under the taverns. You fight in these dungeons and at the end you'll find a vault, like in the Skull Forts. Inside there will be a legendary chest, a new legendary skull and some loot. These would be the legendary version of Skull Forts, and should provide a nice activity for legends, who imo by the time they reach legendary status, the last thing they want to do is keep doing the same stuff as everyone else, just longer.
Hidden Vaults of Legends
@offic3rravioli But there's gonna be grog there, right?
So what I'm picturing, what you mean, is have a riddle to a location that is basically a large rock / cliff face. Once there you play the shanty and the rock blocking a cave entrance slides open.
You enter and fight pirate ghosts to claim the fortune. It sounds great. Anything but more skeletons, skeletons, skeletons, right?
That seems a little too quick and easy so...
You could add to that by getting more riddles when the entrance opens. Perhaps kill a few AI and they drop the next clue.
Have a few alternative routes through the caves and of course cave paintings as landmarks where you can uncover another clue until the final piece of the puzzle opens a chamber where you do the fighting.@offic3rravioli
I love this idea. The game does need an AI character that's more than a regular skeleton with increased health. Switching to ranged shots when you're further away, and a cutlass up close. More mobility where it can strafe dodge your attacks. Maybe there's some catacomb-esque rock pillars down there that you and the enemy can use to shield against bullets.
I like the idea of some timing puzzles on the way there. Maybe arrow traps in a hallway that shoot out consecutively, and you have to run to recessed holes in the walls with perfect timing to not get hit. Or quickly jump across a bunch of stones over a pit, where the stones will sink after stepping on them.
