lost almost all commendations

just handed in 1 hateful skull hit grade 5 and got title which is good i suppose but skeleton fort skulls has gone from 240* to 29/30 and now grade 4,

just read patch notes on commendation changes want to say i hate it they didnt need to be lowered if anything raised,ok you've changed it why would you change my records from 240 to 29 my skulls and chests which were all between now 800-900 now 100-200

@monkey-d-flibly just come to the understanding that rare wanted everyone to have all the titles so everything you have done is gone becuase the casual player wanted a Participation Trophy, once you except it and give up on all accommodations and just go straight pvp and not worry about treasure it will be better

@algaram i feel sorry for those who got the commendations the proper way and had to put alot of effort.
Sure nice to get the titles but....still, yea pvp is the thing now, maybe that was the reduced reason 🤣

Yeah pretty mad all the work that went into qorking for these titles now they just give them out like giving away participation trophies!!!! Bullcrap!!!!

Pretty much. I don't think I've complained about a single thing since this game was released, but this might do it. I've been Athena 10 for 2 months, the only 2 things that have kept me playing has been pvp and commendations, and now my commendations are worthless, and pvp just got a lot harder with the new barrel system. Might be time to just go back to ESO completely....

When I saw how easy it was to get the commendation yesterday, it remind me that feeling I got on Super Mario Odissey.

The game was giving me reward for nothing, I do nothing and I get a rewarded. You sit next to a guy on a bench ? Take this moon. You jump ? Take this moon. You've get 260 skull ? Take this commendation.

I'm Athena 10, I didn't farm that much the merchant alliance, just the quest to get my levels and I now have 21 commendations and in those, all the animals (snake, chicken, pig). It's insane and I don't feel like I deserve it yet.

Super Sea Of Thieves Odissey, I'm dissapointed.

Personally, I don't mind it because a bunch of them were just ridiculous.

They were not ridiculous, they were hard. As my sports teacher told me once : If it's too hard for you, maybe it's not for you.
(that's why I never did sport anymore)

I’m sorry but what community feedback stated we wanted these stats lowered. I’ll agree that something needed doing about the merchant crates as we barely found them and barely had voyages to hand them in. But everything else? I didn’t want handholding through and just given for no apparent reason.

Also not happy that I’ve lost progress especially in the skull fort and fort skull hand in numbers. I’ve gone from the numbers somewhere in the 30’s to 9 in each and I’m not happy about that. I hope Rare still has my previous stats and can fix it.

I liked the fact that these were -long term- goals not just here you go have this. Now any pirate legend level 10 Athena that might have been hanging around while having no other content to do other than commendations might be thinking well that’s my last reason for hanging around gone!

My crew mate logged into having the castaway and seafarers grade 5 commendations. So now no reason to even bother lugging those chests around, might as well dump them in the sea. The commendations were the thing keeping us collectin all loot and that’s been taken away.

Sometimes I seriously wonder who Rare is listensing to and whether they actually think these things through and do proper testing before implementing them. I really want to be team rare but with every badly implimented and not thought through update and bug they let in the game every update I’m finding it hard to keep on side.

@personalc0ffee That doesn't mean we have to willingly accept the snowflake pirate crews and their demands for things to be easy. If this, as you said, goes back to the beta, then why wasn't it finalized prior to release so nobody busted their peg leg to achieve something special only to have the meaning behind it removed? And, why change it after so many put in the time and the grind to achieve them? This move is c**p even if you choose not to discuss it.

Now the titles are meaningless, but Lil Johnny is happy!

No offense to you, mate. You're a good dude and a very helpful member of this community. We're just not going to see eye-to-eye on this one.

I guess we'll see the Legend and Athena cosmetics cheapened next because getting all that gold is just too much.

I've been here since release day sadly didn't hear about eh game to get in on the beta. But none the less, i haven't read one single post complaining that we needed easy casual commendations with all the long term goals stripped out of them.

so no matter how many times you "not" going to argue it, if its been discussed it hasn't been at length here!

I'll hold judgement until they release all these 'improvements' and see what happens, but to be fair where are all these responses here in this forum.

This is exactly what I feel like. We were working towards commendations (my wife and I), but sign in and realize we turn in 1 thing and tier 5 unlocked. RARE IS MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE THAT BUNGEE DID! D1 WAS SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE OF THE GRIND (TURNED CASUAL GAMERS HARDCORE). D2 FLOPPED BECAUSE THEY DUMBED IT DOWN FOR THE CASUAL GAMER (TURNED THE HARDCORE GAMER CASUAL). Why do you think bungee had to call a summit and investigate what went wrong and are starting to work to fix those issues to try and draw back the player base? I have been, literally, one of the biggest advocates of this game. I've bought SoT merchandise, converted friends on my friends list to play with us, even got my kids playing it. Now, I'll just do the bilge rat commendations for the week and log off completely. So much wasted potential.

While I liked having them in the background, because your a hardcore grinder... that doesn't mean people that enjoy the core loop on it's own merits aren't any less hardcore. I've been playing since day 1 and apart from the events I don't really care about my ranks. I do what I feel like doing and get into pirate shenanigans.

Remember there is a gold counter you can tick, so if you need to tick something, start ticking it. I don't see how not being given a sticker for 50 skulls turned in changes the perception of whether or not your having fun playing the game.

Also they made changes to the loot scale, we were killing every newb we could find over castaway chests... that was definitely poorly thought out.

so i now have almost every commendation/title with half the loot that i'd previously had. suppose i should be happy that i got them but yesterday a friend i was with who had -300/400 less in those stats got the same titles/rewards. it also took away the only long term thing to work towards after getting athena 10.

suggestion on how to improve
change the system so people can still get the title/grade 5 at what it is now, but increase to grade 10,gaining different coloured titles grades 6-10 with other cosmetics to unlock similar to athena, 6 clothes, 7 weapons, 8 sails, 9 hull,10 figurehead. might not work for everything, but i've always wanted snake pig chicken figurehead and especially Grogs and Sorrows. i would even prefer it if they were stupidly high and wern't unlocked by anyone for another year or 2. no shortcuts no lvl buying so that it actually meant something.
