So can anyone tell me what the official policy is for “necroing” a post? Amount of time before post is dead? Post is immaculate now? Does anyone know the exact rules for this? @Boatswain @Deckhands
Necroing Posts
@haydensolo We recommend not necroing a post unless there is something worthwhile to add! ... That is the best way to look at it.
The rule is here - I do know it's been tweaked recently. It's sometimes a tricky one because threads which contain ideas are often still relevant whereas others are issues which have been solved or addressed and are not.
Bumping Threads
Bumping threads with content that is not providing additional information to the original post is not permitted. Resurrecting threads over one month old is also not permitted. A warning will be issued and the thread locked.https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/45966/sea-of-thieves-official-forum-rules
@musicmee well how long would a post be inactive to be considered necroing lol? I wanted to link a guy to a post where I collected data on the Brig, but I know that’s like a month old now.
The idea is that as this is a games as a service, and quite fluid, digging up older posts can often result in irrelevant discussions being revived with out of date information. The official forum rules state a month is the cutoff time, but I have seen some circumstances where it is allowed when it's still relevant. I remember you saying you were a big BF4 player, it's a similar mentality to those forums back when they were still up.
@haydensolo Could you maybe quote from it instead of bringing it back? If the information is still relevant and pertinent then I'd say link it...
@haydensolo I'm just here for the Boatswain mention! :D
Good to all folk who gave replies!I go for no older than 30 days.
