Pages from the Bitter Wind - Blackheart's Personal Log IV & Captain's Log VII

  • Blackheart’s Personal Log IV

“Two-Patch” just made the call, the one we were hope’n t’not hear… “Sails!” She be a galleon, and she’s movin’ in fast… Aurai’s Blessing… We don’t have the resources to fight, and we’re still far from our chosen port, as well as our escort ship… It’s just us, and them. The cap’n has retired to his cabin to try and think of a way ‘round this, but it’s not good. We got no supplies fer another fight, none! I’d say just over a single good broadside. Not to mention we’re almost entirely out of planks. We ‘aven’t stopped, for fear of being spotted, and also to cut time off our journey, but, as the skies be turnin’ black, and the waves more deadly, I be thinkin’ there’s only one thing fer us to do. That ship be blessed by the winds, but in a storm, the winds will play against her. I’m going to propose to the captain, to cut into the storm, to lose her. It’s the best chance we have. Her crew… They don’t show no mercy, and with a haul like this aboard, there’s no question, they’ll be sink’n us on sight, and take’n the loot fer themselves. I will end this entry here, and hopefully once this all be done, I can write another, while drink’n some grog with the cap’n and crew at Galleon’s Grave, pockets loaded down with coin. Until then…

    Captain’s Log VII

This may very well be me last entry in this log. The Aurai’s Blessing ‘as spotted us, and she be turnin’ in pursuit of the treasure. With our supplies thin, and crew on edge, I was runnin’ out of options… Master Blackheart entered me cabin moments ago, and recommended turning into the storm to try and lose the Blessing. That move… It’s suicide. That storm will crush us. Then again… we stand a greater chance of lose’n her in the storm, than surviving a drawn out battle with her. So, I feel this question beckons to me… “How would you like you and yer crew to die cap’n?” It was a tough choice… We’re going through the storm. With any luck, killin’ the lights and rigging like madmen we can survive this storm, and lose our pursuers. If we survive, we’ll figure out where we stand, and make way fer Galleon’s Grave. I know the crew won’t be take’n to kindly to this news, but fightin’ that ship… That’s suicide. A fight we cannot, and will not win. Perhaps… We can survive the storm, at least long enough to be safe from the Aurai’s Blessing. The storm ahead of us, she be look’n brutal. Dark, and haunting… Hopefully, we can make it out of this one, alive…
