Sea monsters

  • Add MASSIVE (meg sized and larger) sea creatures to the game that spawn when you are kinda close (or randomly spawn) but they just breach at like 1000ft away from you and swim a little then go under. It would make underwater even more creepy.

Knowing there are large creatures in the water around or even more water creatures would add another level of immersiveness to the world. I'd like more life added to the game.

I can imagine the thought of you something gigantic catching your eye and the paranoia that would exist afterwards

  • To have fear there must be consequence. I'd like it if this attacked u it ate you whole with your ship. You can try to attack it from the inside of its mouth blasting holes in its teeth or mouth after a certain amount of damage it opens its mouth and spits you out. If you fail it swallows you and you lose everything.

  • @jeremep I think this definitely needs consideration. Also, the ocean just needs to be populated with more fauna. Sharks and kraken just doesn't cut it. Even if they are purely there as a cosmetic addition to the water, I think dolphins, schools of fish, whales, turtles, etc would be more than a welcome addition.

  • I think Rare could do more in-game stuff like this to tease new things. Instead of leaving journals or hints lying around (or addition to). I think the days/weeks leading to Meg could have been pretty amazing if they introduce her into the world but at a distance that just created interest and the feeling that something is out there. Then the introduction would have been that much better. The suspense can really be played well in this type of setting.

We've only explored 5% of our own ocean and a lot of people have apprehension about the sea. So many stories have been crafted over the years because of the unknown of what is actually under the water. Rare has said that they want to flesh out the underwater section of the game. I think simply sending us under water to get something would be a missed opportunity to really play on peoples fears if there was a level of uncertainty around what is in the water.

I really think this type of story telling and world building needs to be taken into consideration. This game has a lot of potential to be a rich and mysterious world. Give us a world that feels more alive and epic!

  • @jeremep I agree 100%. I'm pretty sure this game will follow the path of No Man's Sky. In a year or so, I expect a MASSIVE update that will change the sea of thieves as we know it forever.....

  • coincidentally I also play that game
