Recently I repped SoT in a big way by entering the costume contest at GenCon 2018.
The gown was made by my mom and features gray, purple and aqua fabrics. I painted the skull insignia onto the front “sail”, and also hand painted “surprise” panels featuring an order of souls mission and a gold hoarders mission. ! My mom sewed in dowel rods so I could hold up the panels facing the crowd, and I could also wave them around so the aqua side could resemble water as I walked by.
My hat was a gray wide brimmed hat I purchased on amazon. After folding it into a traditional pirate hat shape and stitching it in place, I stuffed the edges with blue and white lace to resemble waves. I sculpted and painted a majestic unicorn figurehead for the front, and on the back I sculpted a stronghold chest, banana, kraken tentacles, and cannonballs. It’s also adorned with black “chicken feathers”.
I made a clay legendary skull broach with a matching eyepatch for my handsome pirate boyfriend.
Our mutual friend (@freefallcustoms on IG) handcrafted a flintlock pistol out of EVA foam to complete my boyfriends pirate look.
We didn’t place in the competition at GenCon but we met many SoT fans!!! Hope you enjoy.
