Cursed Sails Ship Battle Time Table = Terrible(Not actually so bad.)

  • Gotta say, for those of us that work, the fact that the 3 battles are based on the ingame time is a very bad idea. The battle in the wilds is somewhere between 1pm and 5pm, and 1am and 5am. Making it impossible for us to complete, except for on a weekends. So we have to plan out a weekend, just to be able to complete that specific battle. And as everyone knows, trying to get 4 adults all together on a weekend is not an easy thing.

These should always be available to fight, but maybe have a cooldown or something, these 4 hour windows twice a day only at specific times is not going to work for everyone.

Edit: After reading some comments, and having found by the end of the event this month, we'll still get a chance to get the cosmetics and commendations because of ship rotations... isn't so bad, ya'know… having thought it was terrible and all. :D

  • Rare changes the rotations every week, so everyone gets a chance at all 3 regions, but i hope they dont decide to use this system again in the future.

  • @becausescience1 If that's the case, then that's a little better, but does the accommodation reset along with the ship rotation? Specifically the one tied to the limited-time cosmetics?

  • @logickane Yes. On the 3rd week of the event each set of 10 in-game days will have 1 fight in each region, ensuring everyone can get the cosmetics.

  • Just want to make sure i am understanding this correct, as we are trying to battle the Pirate ship in the wilds tonight, but will not get the opportunity (due to the SOT game time schedule). In order to unlock the ship cosmetics one would only need to defeat a skelly ship in each of the three regions once over the next three weeks?

Thanks for mixing up the encounter opportunities for the next week!

  • @logickane I don't think so, if you've completed say, the ancient isles one then you won't have to complete it again next week for the commendation.

  • Yea, personally I'd have had the regions open all through the day for all players and each series would run on a cooldown after a "Captain" ship was sunk... 10 minutes would do well. It'd affect nothing. It'd allow players to go where they wanted. It'd only interfere with finding alliances for the fight by forcing players to sail around looking for allies.....oh wait...we're already condemned to that as is... The benefit gained from having us randomly bump into one another during each 10 day period since each 10 days are location locked isn't hardly potent enough IMO to justify it.

So yea.. even if my perspective wouldn't be that great.. I can say this: I would have done it much differently.

  • I agree, the time rotation system is just very inconvenient. Me and my friends are sacrificing our sleep to beat the Dancing Demons!

  • Yeah, the set real world time table for completing the battles is really disheartening as it's almost impossible to complete for gamers with real life commitments.

So in England, my window to complete the Foul Grog battle is 5:00am-9:00am or 5:00pm-9:00pm, so MON-FRI is impossible as I have to go to work and pick up my daughter from nursery, and on the weekend I have family commitments so that's just not going to work.

I've been with this game from day 1, I've had friends leave due to the early lack of content but I'm still enjoying myself and now join up with random crews. I absolutely love making fleets / alliances and fighting the AI ships, so much fun... but to miss out on commendations because I can't play at a certain times leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
