More and more hackers are present. I encountered large amounts this weekend from weapons being over powered, telporters, ships sailing faster than they should, aim bot players, and god mode players. This is terrable experiance somthing most be done. Please help!!!

@el-dth-taco been playing this game from the start seen it all sometimes it’s lag but a pistol should not be a one shot one kill. If I’m at a full out swim I should not be cought by a player who sword swipes me in water when I’m far away, or watch a player teleport from one side to the other the list goes on. I know of a white hat hacker who plays filled us in on all the hacks out their swares he only does it when he’s up against other hackers. Let him know that I was not cool with hacking even if it was to fight evil. I, know it’s bad ran into at least 8 for Friday to Sunday about 20 hours of game play. So no cry wolf here, but their are wolves at the door.
I'm in the camp of having the choice to make crossplay optional. I don't want to play with PC players at all, I didn't buy a console to play with that platform and all the cheating in this game comes from third party apps PC players can use.
I don't trust PC players in this game for a variety of reasons and would be very content to let PC players and the cheaters inhabit servers away from Xbox Players altogether.
On topic RARE does need to do more to combat cheating in any form faster than they do, would like to see ban waves included each week with the maintenance period so it may put off those undesirables.
@lt-robinson25 Are you inferring that there are people hacking Rare's servers to make it do things in their advantage? Because that's what you're doing.
There's only so much you can do clientside in these type of games. The power of having things be calculated mostly serverside is that you're going to have less cheating going on. People won't be able to move faster, won't be able to do more damage or be able to change gameplay systems.
The only thing they can do is exploit bugs and game mechanics. (things like the infamous brigging bug where a player can loot infinate bananas planks and cannonballs for example) People can do things like wallhacks and aimbotting since that's done clientside (wallhacks is just intercepting more signals then the game lets on and aimbotting is just snapping to a target).
I say you just ran across better players and are crying wolf and I feel you had a lot of lag. What was your ping?

The hacks that you describe aren't possible due to the serverside mechanics, unless people actually hack into Rare's servers. There's only so much people can do on their own client.Don't want to sound rude, but it seems like you've got a lot of practice to do.

I have had last week the same problems with one player of another gallion. And I recorded it, but everyone on here just said it was a lag... so then I need to believe it. Cheaters/hackers exist...especially on PC. No not everything is a hack and lag is a factor but PC side does have a natural advantage, laggy players have a natural advantage and PC players using cheating/hack apps to gain an advantage are real issues in this game. Most can be handled easily by optional Crossplay.

Sometimes they are real cheaters.
Sometimes it is just server issues.In Sea of Thieves it is extremly difficult (impossible) to differenciate it. But since it happened a lot to the skeletons I was fighting, I am pretty sure some server issues were involved this weekend if you saw a lot of cheaters.

I am in PC and I have seen some that could be. As I said, it is impossible to determine if they really are.
Many times I defeated them, so o no, it is not rage or anything.
I just report them and Rare will decide since Rare knows if they are or not cheaters using information we can't access.
Maybe my crew and me see more because we attack everything that moves in the game haha (except outpost ships if they don't have loot and we don't need to go there).

I've seen some stuffs too but i know that was desync (players taking more than 3 shot of snipers, players going through you when they are climbing ladders and hit you in the back,cutlass not hitting,blunderbuss one shot from 10feet and so on... I also getting called a hacker if i win a fight and if i lose one i'm a noob, so yeah peoples are calling hacks just for the sake of calling hacks).
My crew and i are doing forts (commendation for the title) so we saw a lot of players too and tbh when we get bested we either made a mistake or they were clever than us.@cokney-charmer said in Hackers:

Well yes, of course they get a mention. For the same reason the second poster discussed the servers.
Many people assume it's hacks but often it is also just the difference between PC and Xbox in terms of their native controller options in PVP, one being the more cumbersome control pad and the other being the more accurate keyboard and mouse.

Coming here to start another crossplay debate, which is completly off-topic, is not. It has nothing to do with the topic and posts.
When you consider the number of players in SoT, even a small percentage of players using hacks would result in every day some legit players running into one. Why is it so hard to believe a few of those people would come here to share their experience? The longer the game is out, the more exploits will be discovered and shared.

There are NO working hacks for SOT for xbox, i repeat NONE!!!
It may be possible in other games, but i can assure you 100% in SOT it is not possible.All hacks/cheats are solely a PC problem!

I believe someone gave you a strong explanation of that in another thread.Just because it's harder doesn't mean it does not exist, so it's not a crossplay issue but an overall hacker issue. Somebody tried explaining it but kept falling in the same pits yeah, not bringing up actual proof.

@aarghmaargho as others have said it is totally viable because due to Crossplay being a forced aspect of the game, those on Xbox will regularly come up against PC cheaters via their use of mods/hacks/apps. Therefore a solution to avoid that spoiling Xbox experience is give them the legitimate choice of not playing with PC players as other games do, Street Fighter V on PS4 for example allows you to opt out of MM with PC players.
Cheaters are an issue in this game and it's coming from the PC side, trying to either deny that it say that isn't a factor is pointless to those who experience this problem daily.
cheaters by any form in this game is an issue, and most on Xbox will be hard to swallow that it's on a Platform they aren't using that is spoiling their experience on the platform of gaming they did choose.

The problem is people assuming that everybody who is better than them or cheats is a PC-player.

@cokney-charmer That attitude is why I’m slowly leaving Xbox. Why do you not trust all pc players? Because a small percentage of them cheat? People cheat on Xbox too, yet I don’t see the pc community complaining about it. You people aren’t looking to solve the problem, you’re trying to make it not your problem.
Whether you’re on console or pc, a cheater is a cheater and they have to be removed.
