Encountered my first hacker tonight....

    I am Pirate Legend ( not saying that means I know how to spot a hacker, just mentioning it to show i have spent considerable time in the game) and have completed over 120 skull forts. Tonight was the first time I was positive someone was using an aimbot. He would be in the water with no clear line of sight and kill us ( using a sniper rifle) while we were in the ship. He boarded us and killed us through the decks of the ship while he was on the bridge. He never missed a shot.

    I recorded some of it and reported him. I have to say, there were times were some players were suspect but this was no doubt. I see people complaining about but had never really experienced it until tonight. Kind of a b****r people have to do this stuff.

    I have filmed and reported the exact same attack a while ago. To be sure I made him spawn kill me and my buddy about 20x. Hackers exist in this game.

    Yeah it's possible to find some cheaters although devs are banning them from the game, but there is a possibility that he is just a very good pc player with high sensitivity, some people actually accused me of cheating when I was non scoping them with eye of reach, but I was just training for days at combat, my stats 47 43 37 just in case...

    Yes, Aimbot and ESP hacks are in Sea of Thieves no doubt.

    You can damage pirates through the hull, masts, floor of the crow's nest, stones and skull fort walls - and that's a fact. This issue has existed since alpha... And Rare hasn't made any improvements on this matter whatsoever.

    It's just easier with an Aimbot and ESP naturally to land those shots...

    Nice job reporting them, and getting them on video.

    I'm not protecting hacker but there is no hit-scan in this game
    It means that bullet taking time to travel from rifle to target and if its sniper riffle and your or him (shooter) both not standing still - AIM bot will not work, it aiming his crosshair to your model but not predicting the future
    About shots through the decks - might be a simple server-rubberband it happens alot when you got high ping. Skellys all the time shooting me whyle im allready inside my ship.

    @trickrtreat01 I think, personally, we will be finding this kind of things more often during this months of summer break.

    Younger folk tend to have more curiosity about this kind of stuff.
    They always want to be better than someone and tend to try less legal ways to prove themselves.

    Even yesterday we (me and my mate) run across some youngsters during a fort.
    They were pretty new to the game too. No customisations, no correct use of the ship. But they were eximious on direct PvP.
    Too much eximious..
    Using sniper in the water and hitting us while we were sailing with our ship.
    Flawless Headshots with cannonballs in first shots istakilling us.
    And obviously one of them was using macros.
    Shooting 2 shots instantly. My friend recorded but unfortunately we didn't get his gamertag.
    And like it's normal in this ages, they were very Salty and annoying when I found one dead.

    But I definitely think they need to be more rigorous and tight more the belt during this summer time, due to this new players arriving.

    If it happened once or maybe twice yeah, but this was several times on the people in our crew. He was taking all 4 of us on and killing us while we had no line of sight. This was not lag. He never missed a shot and shot us through the ship multiple times. I was killed at least 5 times.
    Edit : For clarification, this happened at an outpost. There were no skeletons around to shoot us. All the bullets came from him.

    I only ever experienced someone running a mod once. My friend who is on PC knew about the perks of the mod so he was able to notice way before I did. I actually shot him down when he was saying to me these guys are using a mod, I thought they were just really good. Im not the type who thinks people are cheating every time I lose a fight.

    Well I realized they were when we did a test. They were following us so I dropped my friend off on a huge island and told him to hide with the treasure and then sailed away. I saw that ship dock there (my friend was already in his spot, they were a ways behind use at the point he jumped off the ship) and they literally ran directly to the location my friend was on the other side of the island without hesitation. Apparently the mod my friend suspected these two were using included something where all players and treasure are lit up on a map for you. I was really put off by that experience but so is the world of online gaming where apparently some people just cant play a video game without cheating, its really pathetic.

    ESP I think its called. Saw a video advertising it on youtube. Disgusting.

    @trickrtreat01 depends, just cause you can’t see them doesn’t mean they can’t see you. Not saying he wasn’t cheating or that I support it but I’m suspecting your post has less to do with the cheating and more to do with opening old wounds of posts the mods closed long ago. He cheated, you reported, no point posting it on your Facebook page.

    Not sure w*f you are even talking about ( don't think you know either). As for him being able to see me when I couldn't see him, one time he was under our boat and shot me on the top deck, another he was on the bridge and shot me right after I ran down the stairs but w/e , don't really care if you personally buy it or not.

    Just keep recording all game sessions and file a report ticket with a link to your proof (preferably with gamer tags in sight).

    I stand behind your claims. About a week ago my crew and I had a ship at a fort that wouldn't miss, and the pirates that tried to fight us or board us wouldn't miss a single shot, which lines up perfectly with your description. I remember at one point I was behind some rocks at a fort and I got sniped by one of the pirates from the opposing crew. I proceeded to jump around and move side to side whilst looking back at the shooter. I saw him reload the gun, didn't even aim, simply shot his gun and still got me. I knew something was off here and my crew agreed.

    I'm very skeptical about calling pirates cheaters (partly why I hesitated to mention it before), but people are a bit too skeptical sometimes on these forums. There's a clear pattern here and this post isn't the first one talking about an aimbot crew.

    I believe you.

    @assassinsking98 oh no i believe him it happens I just enjoy the hypocrisy of his posta. Had anyone else posted that He would have told them they were exaggerating and gone out of the way to try to devalue thier claim and Now that it has happened to tim ha want someone to care so I just felt like throwing it back at him. In someway he kinda deserved it.

    I actually talked to a Guy that admited to me that he had one of these mods, but he tried it out in the beginning of his pirate, and Said that you culd se everything in the world (shining up)

    And he even Said that a warning sign came up on his screen (like the message that pop up when we Change servers)

    That one of the devs were watching him so he got rid of the mod because he dident want to get ban.

    I actually saw a so called "pirate legend" teleport hacking this week.

    I spawncamped him and his crew at a fort after they rammed their galleon into a spot where they couldn't get out, while my friend escaped with our sloop and took it to an outpost. after he arrived at the outpost i took the mermaid so i could turn in the loot.

    As soon as i approached the vendor with a skull on my hand, the same PL i was spawncamping at the fort 10 seconds ago was behind me stunlocking with a sword.

    When i respawned literlaly ALL of our loot was gone, he managed to turn everything in in the small time i spent at the ferry.

    We just joked saying "well, now we know how that dude got PL.."

    They also seemed to be boosting some low level guy.

    @blatantwalk4260 I didn't know he himself had belittled one of the previous posts. Please know I wasn't addressing you specifically when I said some people were too skeptical. I was rather addressing previous posts in which people were simply telling the OP things like "sounds like someone was having your crew for lunch, not cheating." Either way, it has to be real, way too many people have been talking about these aimbots as of late. It seems very widespread.

    This post is old, but tonight i also encountered my first hacker and i really need to vent my frustration.

    We had just finished a skeleton fort and decided to not immediately open the vault, instead we left the island with the key. A sloop shows up which is magically able to catch up with our brigantine even though we had the wind (this shouldn't happen as the brigantine is significantly faster than the sloop, first red alert).

    Then this pirate legend, climbs on board and even though i hit her repeatedly as she was climbing the ladder, she doesn't fall in the sea as it always happens. She proceeds to repeatedly noscope, one-shot-kill all of us with they eye of the reach, at times shooting with it twice in seconds and even hitting us behind cover.

    I've been playing this game since it came out and i never encountered anything like it before. I've lost fights and and forts and keys and i never felt cheated. But this time it all felt wrong, we would hit this player repeatedly and nothing would happen, she never died. She would turn and immediately one shot kill us, even when we were at full health.

    It looked like this person was boosting her teamate who we were able to kill multiple times. But of course not her, even though 3 people were attacking her at the same time she wouldn't die. She didn't ate any bananas (probably because she took no damage at all) just jumped around noscoping, one shot killing us repeatedly.

    All of my levels are in the 40's so i am not new to the game, i've played extensively and i pvp a lot and in the hundred's of hours i've put into this game i never had a similar encounter. It was just wrong as this player was moving around and shooting us in a completely unnatural way.

    Furthermore, i play on the pc and i've played extensively shooters like csgo, pubg, r6 siege etc so i know what an aimhack and an esp is and i am betting anything that this person had both as well as some sort of invincibility hack.

    I've reported both of them but it all left me feeling very salty.

    I'm not sure on the eye of reach's damage. I hopped on a brig last night and one shot killed one of the pirates on it and chalked it up to powder keg damage before I boarded. Then after they spawned back, they came down below deck and I did it again. I was a bit worried that they might think I'm cheating.
