    Oh gutted i didn't know anything about it. Was this while the game was in testing? I purchased the game on pre-order and played it on day one but had no idea about this? :(

    It was a launch event, started a day before release.

    Hugely gutted i had no idea about it. I'd been following the SOT page on facebook and was really excited about this games release. I am shocked i didn't hear anything. For a launch event, rare i would suggest advertising it better. Willy Wonker wouldn't have sold any Wonka bars with that type of adverising for a launch event..

    It was a real life scavenger hunt event. Some of the riddles we're quite tough!

    Did the clues relate back to places outside the game world?? In that case i am less gutted to miss the event. But those sails!!!! 🍌❤

    That article @Sir-Lotus posted gives the details of how it all worked out. There were digital means of completing it all, apparently, I don't believe it had anything to do with in game.

    Sounds like an epic launch event. Just a shame more wasn't made of it. I'm surprised everyone i met on the seas for the first few days wasn't talking about it... actually guess i spent the first few days solo slooping. Lol

    @guybrush3pwood2 that's because it was a really restricted contest. Not every worldwide were able to participate.
    Ex. It didn't include Portugal in its region. So people from here weren't allowed to participate and win nothing..
    Maybe that's why people didn't care so much about it and why you didn't hear so much about it while playing.

    Personally I was aware of this and all our Portuguese community were too.
    Made the first outside game clues, But when we realize our country weren't eligible for the contest it lost interest for all of us and we never talked about that again, didn't care about the following clues that were released..
    Just an example.

    And obviously, it had a real life monetary prize.. people who were really fallowing it to win wouldn't be talking too much about it or playing much. I guess.

    Cool, thanks for filling me in. To be honest, i am glad i asked, it cleared up my question and i don't feel hard done by for missing out anymore :)
