Selling your gear and trading it to others or npc

  • It would add a lot to the game and if there’s someone who has been playing and they have the 1 eyepatch if they don’t play but there friend does he/she could trade it to them or however it would work

  • @tippedrhombus23 I'm not sure there are enough items in game to warrant a trading system really. In other games (I'm thinking MMO's), you might have an item with stats that someone else wants, and so you sell it to them. Or there may be a crafting system that players spend a long time progressing in to build desirable items.

In Sea Of Thieves, we all have access to the same items, and earning the gold to buy them isn't all that tough - it's just a matter of time before you have enough to buy the stuff you want.

    Just seems a little, unnecessary...

  • I can see this, especially now with the limited time items from Bulge Rats.

At least the sell back feature for the store NPCs. I bought a dress the other day that looks horrible on my avatar and it would be nice to sell it back, even half price. Or allow us to wear jackets OVER our dresses.

I think the OP is more referring to the limited cosmetics, like let's say you have the day one eye patch, or the launch crew eye of reach, or any of the bilgerat limited cosmetics, or the ebony flintlock, stuff that is no longer available. If you have it, but maybe you have since unlocked other skins you like a lot more and never use those limited skins, you could trade them to players that really want them but can't get them any other way.

Me personally, I don't like the idea, because those limited cosmetics were meant to be just that; limited. They were awarded to people who were at the right place and the right time, and put in the work to get them. A year from now, if I see someone sporting the bonecrusher hat for example, I want to know that guy was sitting in thrones a year ago, same as me, and didn't just buy it in a SoT rummage sale.

I would however, like an option to sell back some items to the shopkeepers I bought them from, if I don't use/like them anymore, for a small fraction of what I paid. I wouldn't do it for the gold, because gold is easy enough to come by in this game, but I would do it merely to declutter my inventory when I'm equipping items/clothing/weapons and don't want to sort through all the skins I've accumulated after playing for a year.

Short of that, id be just as happy with a system that lets us sort our inventory to put our go-to options in the front of the list, so in the heat of battle when you run to an armory to switch from a flintlock to a blunderbuss, the first one in the list is our favorite one instead of the default.
