East India Trading Company. (Treasure Stock Exchange)

  • In the captains quarters have a stock exchange table (East India Trading Company) which displays all the outposts in a table, then with a % increase or decrease for the treasure types you're able to sell in the game.
    e.g

    • Sanctuary outpost will have a +3% extra coins for Chests (gold hoarder Missions).
    • Dagger tooth Outpost will have a +2% on Captains Skulls (Order of Soul Missions)
      Hopefully you're understanding the idea.
then you are faced with a decision do you sail across the map to get a better reward or play safe and go to the closest one.
you could also tie this into the watch item you carry around, where the percentages will change on stock exchange board on a specific in game time and date.

  • It's a neat little Idea.

I'm kind of disappointed however. You namedrop the VOC and don't even mention extorting locals for goods and taking over the market in spice trading :-(

  • I had said in a previous post I would like to see a trading option in game .like purchase 20-30 barrels of tnt and transport them your ship and sell at a outpost at the other end of the map the risk /reward would change depending on the cargo that your are carrying.

would add a extra layer to the game as I must admit I don't do merchant much as animals collection is tedious to me I know some people do like it but everyone to their own

Wow. I really like that idea for merchant. It would add a whole new way to do merchant voyages rather then the boring grind for animals. Upvoted!

  • @deathsparrow24 @GTA5DUDE74

Yeah and it would be as simple for rare as adding a second quest type where you only have to transport Banana Cannonball or Wood crates, they are already in the game but only with bottle quests. If you could somehow make it so they can be chosen seperately it'd be a simple A-B transport quest.

  • It would take more than a 2-3% increase to convince me to go to certain outposts to cash in goods. Even if it was 10%, 10% on a 600-800 gold captains chest only adds on 60-80 gold. Would definitely need to be 30%+, or some chance of dropping doubloons to get me to try.

  • @deathsparrow24 @GTA5DUDE74 .
the Merchant ones from the start would have been good if it was, heres 5 pigs please take them to this outpost before this time/date. and you could have your reward money deplete as you get closer to the deadline

  • @supriseautopsy
Agreed, i didn't really do the maths. just getting the balance is key, as it works the other way to don't want it heavily crippling - 30% on say chests. could ruin the fun

  • @syntax-pirate Oh yeah, that is also another great idea. I do enjoy gathering the animals but what they could do is chapter quests where you gather animals then take them to an outpost where they take said animals and give you more to deliver to another outpost. That would make things very different and I am just enjoying all your great ideas haha.

the merchant idea never added up to me, it feel more like a bounty hunter type mission, "go find me this rare spotted pig" .

i wanted some nerve racking "oh damn i have 10 boxes of tea on here, i need to get it to the other side of map"
but this seems to be developing into a way to improve the merchant Alliance missions

  • @syntax-pirate The only issue I find with this is the amount your transporting. If someone came across you with 10 crates of tea they would be extremely happy. It could be abused as well by two crews working together. I think it would have to be crates to keep people from exploiting.

yeah, could be open to exploiting.

I don't think stock values should be applied to Order of Souls or Gold hoarders. As for merchant alliance perhaps. My issue is how would this work. Lets say 3% return value on silks but what is the original value and in reality you would also expect negative returns. Lets say silks are 99 gold and they are being sold at 3% the sell value would be 101.969 meaning you'd either have to round it to the nearest whole number or just remove the decimal numbers. This is of course assuming that merchant loot never goes below a set amount. Also I don't want to be forced to sell my stuff at a lower price if I have to deliver it at a specific outpost or sail across the map to get a slight percent advantage. I am sure there is an algorithm at work that dictates the amount of gold we get for certain items and if they are part of a quest or not. Personally I think its fine as it is.

  • @syntax-pirate well as long as the base values of the items aren't altered, a player wouldn't be losing 30% of an items value. They just wouldn't be getting an extra 30%, which would be their choice.

  • yes it could be exploited to a point but if your were a trader in that era then if you get caught or raided you would lose your goods .

what's the difference now when you lose your treasure on-board there would be no visual indication that you are doing trade run .
